My 10 year old son was diagnosed with moderate Asperger's Syndrome last year. But, an MRI of his brain, shows a section of his Frontal Lobe, on the left side is underdeveloped and he also has scar tissue deep inside his brain.
The neurologist, diagnosed him with non-spastic, hypotonic cerebral palsy, just this last month. I am wondering, now, if his Asperger's diagnosis is truly accurate? He was born with the brain abnormality.
What do you think???![]()
im not sure how to go with it because my baby had a MRI done on her brain not to long ago and they said the frontal lobe was smaller than supposed to be. she was born with her chest bigger than her head doctor said not really normal . and i hear alot of different things so its hard to say sorry im no help.
You may ask your Neurologist to re-evaluate the diagnosis in light of the new information but the brain anomaly may be a cause of the Aspergers and that diagnosis helps with services from schools. My son has a brain anomaly and has many characteristics of Autism Spectrum as do many kids with the same diagnosis.
