My 10 year old son was diagnosed with moderate Asperger's Syndrome last year.  But, an MRI of his brain, shows a section of his Frontal Lobe, on the left side is underdeveloped and he also has scar tissue deep inside his brain.

The neurologist, diagnosed him with non-spastic, hypotonic cerebral palsy, just this last month.  I am wondering, now, if his Asperger's diagnosis is truly accurate?  He was born with the brain abnormality.

What do you think???confused

You may ask your Neurologist to re-evaluate the diagnosis in light of the new information but the brain anomaly  may be a cause of the Aspergers and that diagnosis helps with services from schools.  My son has a brain anomaly and has many characteristics of Autism Spectrum as do many kids with the same diagnosis.
