HI everyone,

My name is Dani I'm located in MD. I have two boys and my youngest -Logan who is 5 has Developmental delays, Sensory Processing disorders and aulditory processing disorder. Has severe flat feet and has had braces in the past. Genetic tests jujst came back last month of a small duplication of chromosome #2...in which I was told they ahve never seen this duplication before BUT I FOUND A website to prove otherwise!!! And as of Nov 20th  was told by my Ped. he thinks my son has Pervasive develpmental disorder ( aka PDD )

I have been fighting for his health right for 4 yrs. I have seen more docs than i can count on both hands and feet. Logan is only 5 and already has a file box that I have on wheels to take with me to all his appts. Logan is currently enrolled in a normal function Pre-k and sees a speech therap. through the school system 2 days a week ( each session 30 mins )..I KNOW this is not enough! My health insurance Is BLUE CROSS?BLUE SHIELD thought it was good till I found out they do NOT cover physical ther. and speech therap. WE are MEDICAL BILL IN DEBT..We don't have or owe anything on a credit card..But yet people just don't understand health insurance does not cover everything

I'm A stay at mom for now being Logans Voice...everything I read on all that he has going on state that EARLY intervention is the KEY to them being a NORMAL FUNCTION ADULTS....but not having these covered by my insurance and been denied state help is holding him back everyday..SO ...............This is my story and why I'm looking for help/advice and others like me who can support one another

Hi and welcome.  We have a couple of thing in common, my 3 yr. old son Marcus has developmental delays (possible PDD-NOS, no dx yet), sensory issues,  we are in Maryland, and I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Insur., too.  Marcus is in a pre-k inclusion program, but I'm fighting to get him into a more individualized, smaller class environment.  He also gets speech in school 2x a week, but this is surely not enough.  But, I also have him in private speech therapy that IS COVERED by my insurance.  I have Blue Cross PPO, maybe this could be the difference.  But I wanted to mention if not covered by insurance, you may want to apply for SSI through Maryland to help pay for private Speech, Occup.  or Phy. Therapy.   Good luck to you.
