New to site and group - 2 yr old with delays

Hi everyone,

New here, and looking for support and guidance.  I have twin boys that are 2 1/2, one with seemingly normal development and one with social and language delays.  He's receiving services from our local public school district, for the last 6 months, but they are inconsistent to say the least.  Just last Friday we finally saw a private speech pathologist who wants to start working with DS once a week starting in the new year.

I'm frustrated but feeling hopeful that we are moving in the right direction.  We make small advances and I feel better, but then we have a horrible day and my confidence in what we are doing has been shattered.  It's like one step forward, two steps back.

So I'm just looking for some help, advice, anything I can get.  Right now I am feeling like I'm feeling around in the dark for the light switch.  Could it be this?  Could it be that?  I just want to do what is best for my son.

Thanks for listening.

I am sorry for all the bad feelings, and I know them pretty well.

My son was diagnosed with Epilepsy 3 years ago, and he was also diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy 9 months ago.  He has global delays, and he makes progress at his own pace.    It has been a roller coaster ride, and some days, I think I want to crawl under my bed an never ever come out!  But, I know I need to do better than that.    I also have a daughter, my typically developing Princess, she is 6, and in Kindergarden.

Have you done any audiology testing?  My son also has some mild hearing loss, diagnosed when he was 6 months old, under a sedated test of his brainstem, it is not from chronic ear infections.

My son has been in Physcial therapy for three years.   He was in NJ early intervention for two years, and he has been in school for 9 months, with an IEP, he is in the special ed program, Preschool disabled.   ITs going pretty well so far, keeping my fingers crossed!

I hope to share anything I can, and I hope to help you with anything I can!

Please dont hesitate to write me and ask this group questions, its a great spot!    Happy Holidays, Love, DIane
