A Bathtub?

My DS is 18 months old.  He is still not sitting up on his own or crawling or walking.  I am still using his new born bathtub, but it really takes a toll on us both.  He is very long and doesn't fit in it, but I cannot just put him in the bathtub because he cannot sit up on his own or stand or anything.  Can anyone suggest any kind of bathtub I might be able to use for him?  I welcome any suggestions.  Thanks!

This style of bathtub has been gaining popularity lately.  I don't know how big your son is, but perhaps something shaped like this but on a larger scale could work:

It's called the "tummy tub" I believe, if you want to look it up.  Also, have you looked into trying to find a larger bath sling you could use in a full-sized tub?

You could also try something like this:

 Hi!  :)

Do you have Medicaid??  This page had a couple options, including bath supports and bathtub.  They are perfect but quite expensive.  You should be able to get one ordered by your DS's physical therapist and paid for by Medicaid.

I hope this helps!

Please update!

Have you tried one of those inflateable tubs that you can put in the big tub?  Stephen had outgrown his infant tub around 5-6 months, and still wasn't sitting on his own consistently, so he would often lean back on that one, and it kept him well-insulated against bumping his head.  I don't know if it would be big enough for your son, though, but it's certainly worth a shot!

That's a great suggestion, don't know why I didn't think of that, as the group home I work in has something almost identical for one of the clients.  It works amazingly well and is really easy to use, so I can definitely add my stamp of approval. :)

This is the one we have. Probably my favorite piece of "special" equipment!

I found a great tub for my son at k-mart for 20 bucks! I is tub for children up to 2 years old but my almost 3 year old still fits in it just fine. It has an adjustable back on it so that if he can't hold himself up that well you can lay him back, also there is a little shower built into the back for easier hair washing, it is from safety 1st. Also the cover that goes over the bottom of the tub had a little foam piece that keeps him from slipping down in the tub. It was the best 20 bucks I ever spent.

I just put my son in the bathtub and fill enough water in the tub to wash him. Generally I put water up to my knuckles on my hand when my hand touches the bottom of the tub. I use have a pool chair for the him to sit in the bathtub but that ended up being more work.. Willy's medicaid won't cover a bathchair/seat so we have to pay out of pocket.
