my son aiden turned 3 in january. he was not doing imaginative play which i think his evaluators from EI called cognative play, such as pretending to talk on the phone, and making car noises when he plays with his hot wheels. i was so relieved when last week he started talking to me on his little spiderman phone and handing me the real phone! we are getting there step by step, its amazing!!

Wow!  This is great news!!  Congrats, this is an amazing milestone!

Imaginative play is one of the things that they tested Jerry for at the Developmental Ped.  He was not able to do any of it, which lowered his score significantly.  We look forward to the day when he can do this too!

Hey can you post video?  I would love to see him!!  :)

Wow!  Congratulations, that is so wonderful.  My son has yet to have imaginative play, but he is at least exploring toys, banging them.  I'm not sure if this also has somethign to do with the fact that he is limited physically.  His therapists try to get him to pretend to talk on the phone to no avail.  However, I remain hopeful!  Congratulations again!

Isn't it great when they do that?  For the longest time, the only imaginative play Stephen would do would be pretend to be a dinosaur or a lion (and chase me!).  Just a few weeks ago, he grabbed his new sock monkey (called "Hawney), and took him, put him in his stroller, and pushed him around.  Of course, he hasn't done it since then...
