Riley's Developmental Pediatrician ordered genetic testing to be done, so today we went to a children's hospital close to home lab and they had to draw blood. It was so terrible. I had to hold him so tightly I wouldn't be surprised if he's bruised tomorrow, he fought so hard that his straining caused the first vein to blow so they had to do it again in the other arm. It was just a painful experience for both of us, you never want to see them in pain like that....I hope we never have to do it again.
I was wondering if anyone knows what exactly they are testing for with genetic testing?

Hi! :)
I'm so sorry that you both had to endure this. I am not sure exactly what they were testing for, but usually genetic testing is done to compare genetics and look for things that may have been carried by/inherited through the parents. Maybe this will help:

My son had genetic testing done... his blood draw was miserable, too. :( When they tested him, they were particularly looking for the gene for Noonan Syndrome, which turned out negative. As I understand it, though, they analyze the genes for any abnormalities. Waiting is the hard part now... wishing you speedy and happy results.
