All His Words Seem To Come At Once

When my four year old talks its very hard to understand him at times. All his words are muffled together. He did not start to talk until he was two years old. At two he was only saying mama and baba which at that time meant eat. He started to work with a speech Therapist. The therapist came to my home twice a week it made a world of difference. But he continued to still struggle with his words and now I am noticing he is having trouble with comprehending.

Welcome to the group! Now that your ds is 4 is he getting speech therapy through your school district? If not may I suggest that you get your ds tested. They should be able to help. If not you might be able to get private speech therapy.

I read your other post. You might want to have him evaluated by a pediatric neurologist or a developmental pediatrician. What type of doctor have you seen?

He do receive help through the school but I want to know why he is like this. I had a emergency C-section when he was born. He seemed fine but as he started to grow I realized something was not right. and I started asking questions but got no answers.

Has your ds ever been seen by a pediatric neurologist? If you are worried that your son many have suffered trauma during his birth I would suggest taking him to a neurologist. They could do an MRI.

I hate to say it but that is my biggest fear. Him not being normal or able to be like the other children.

((hugs)) I understand that but knowing what is wrong doesn't change who your ds is. He is still your wonderful son! Having a name for his condition (if that is possible) will help you and one day him to advocate for services and assistance. Your son may or may not have an issue but by finding out what is wrong (if anything) you can remove some of your fear. Also when your ds gets just a little older it might help him not to feel like his learning challenges are his fault if he knew what was causing the delays. We are here for you!
