Those are two websites that I like, plus they link to other great ones.
Is your son going to a developmental preschool? Your school district should offer a free pre-k and more speech therapy.
I bet you heard this alot, "Boys are just slower than girls". Unacceptable!
First of all let me say that I am sorry that you have to experience this communication disorder from your 3 year old child. Now let me tell you about my 4 year old who is having communication issues also.
My 4 year was born between 30-35 weeks I'm not sure it went so fast. But during this time I was pressured to give him immunization shots that I'd never was exposed to and never researched about. The reason I bring up the immunization is because in addition to him being born a little early, I believe in my deepest heart that the shots that I'd continued to give him over the years had delayed his neuro-development which includes the verbal part of the brain, plainly put his speech was delayed. The nurse at the time of my 4 year old's delivery argued with me on why I would not give my newborn a shot for an STD, Sexually Transmitted Disease. Really?! When I started to ask for her supervisor she basically smacked her lips, stormed away saying "I don't know why you are making this so hard other parents do all the time". Not needless to say, I did not give my newborn this STD shot, I signed some kind of waiver.
As time goes on I have come across literature and tv documentaries with famous parents with these same issues and disorders due to immunizations at birth. Jim Carrey and Toni Braxon have children that are Autistic due to these shots over time and during birth, to name a few.
The issues that my child started right after his 1st birthday when we had to get all these crazy shots. He was progressing just fine before then. I have video of his before and after. His thought process and physical responses were completely different.
I worked for the School District over 6 years and have raised many of my family members and his communication delay seemed different. I noticed he was not speaking on his level. I noticed it clearly at 2 years old. He was still pointing and grunting which was a sign of communication immaturity. I would make sure I was speaking on his level allowing him to see my lips and he still could not say the words back to me or remember how to say the word I just described to him. How disappointing because I felt like this was my fault for working too many hours at my job. I felt like I was not giving him enough attention so that he will be able to communicate thoroughly.
Then I had another baby during these issues and it was really delayed. Oh my God what did I do? How can this be resolved I said to myself. I looked into a Speech Therapist though my insurance but they wanted to much money out of pocket and they lost my paperwork. So I just hired an in-house nanny thinking one-on-one would be better than Daycare during the hours I worked. It was convenient and yes he did get a little better. So I stopped the vaccination altogether. My last vaccination was probably at age 2.
He got his first hearing test to make sure there were no issues in the ear. And our first Speech Therapy will be in a few weeks. I am excited to see what progress he will make!!!!
I am now resigned from my corporate job/life and focusing now on home-schooling and non-vaccinations. Since this is new to me I will follow up with you to see your baby's progress as I will share my own.
Sorry for all the story and blah blahs but this really hit home.

I am unsure why my son has these problems and no doctor can tell me anything helpfull, he had developmental issues as well when he was younger, he didn't sit up till he was 1, he didn't walk till 2, he has heart problems as well.
all they think is he has some form or the disorder apraxia and develpmental dyspraxia.
I would be more than happy to keep in touch about homeschooling, I also homeschool my two older older children 8 and 6.
what kind of programs are planning on using for your son?
