Yesterday we had our post-evaluation meeting with the services coordinator from early intervention services and the therapists who did our son's evaluations, and got a better idea of what is going on. They havent ruled out Autism or Senesory processing disorder, but since he is so young (23 months) we will be doing therapies three times a week for 3-6 months and then they want to send him to the specialist for a formal diagnosis. Gonna see if they can get him to progress any so that they can get a better idea of what is "wrong" with him (gosh, i just hate that saying! as if anything could be "WRONG" with my incredible, handsome little boy! He might be different, but i have to ask myself, if he was born this way then how can we say something is "wrong?" i just hate that terminology)
Anyway, on all of his evaluations he tested between a 9 and 13 month level developmentally. So we will be working with an occupational therapist, developmental therapist, and speech therapist, each for an hour a week. We are excited to finally be getting him the help he needs, but I am a little nervous as to how he will react to so many people coming in and out (3 diff therapists a week) How did/does your child handle that? Is it something he may get used to? He has melt downs and doesnt handle social situations well, so i am scared hes just going to shut down when they come and not be willing to even try :( ugh i think i just worry too much. any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
