I thought it would be a good idea to have an ongoing thread easily accessible to everyone where we could all share some ideas for adaptive equipment of any kind that we have come across and have found successful.  Please share what you've found that you've liked.

This was posted in a different thread by Mamatware.  I hope that anyone interested will check it out.  Mamatware, please feel free to post a picture as well.

I sell Tupperware, and right now we have a children's beverage set for $12.50.  Why is this important here.  Because when I showed it to Robby's therapists they freaked.  They were so exicted.  It's a mini version of our classic pitcher and straigt sided tumblers.  The pitcher is 7.5 oz and the tumblers are 1.5oz.  They are excited because the smaller size makes it perfect for little hands, for pouring etc.  We are even getting Robby to drink out of the little cups.  1.5oz is not a lot to spill and unlike Dixie cups these don't crush if the kiddo grabs them to hard.

I know this is technically advertising, but if I weren't a rep of the company and just ran across this as any other mom it wouldn't be...so forgive me.  If you want more information, would like to see a picture etc, send me a message and I will get the info to you.

Another good site is www.sammonspreston.com

They have all kinds of adaptive equipment from bowls and spoons, to furniture, shower chairs, etc.

Their prices are also less than the medical equipment store here in my town!!

That is a picture of the mini beverage set!!

I find a lot of good stuff at the abililtations website. Sign up for the catalog if you don't already have it! The items are expensive but very cool!

I thought this would be the appropriate place to let ya'll know that The Children's Place www.thechildrensplace.com carries bodysuits/onsies in sizes up to 4T.  I have spent weeks figuring that one out!!!!!

my daughter has speech delays.   she gets very frustrated when she wants or needs something and cant get somebody to understand.  I thought about using a communication adaptive device.  Her counselor and speech therapist came up with a very cheap and easy but very effective idea.  You take like a bullitan board or something and pictures with velcro on the back and put it where the kid can reach.  When she wants or needs something she takes down the picture and hands it to you.  Along with that she trys to say the word too.  It helps her work on her speech and also gets her point across without frustration.

Children's Place and Old Navy sell the great long socks for the children to wear with their AFO's. They are not too thick-they are perfect. Too bad they only sell them up to size 4T. My son's feet are so small for his age, but just now outgrowing the 4Ts. Does anyone else know of some good socks. The Hanes are kind of thick...?

Also, for oral sensory input, my son loves his chewy tubes. Southpawenterprises.com has great prices on those.

I ordered some great elbow immobilizers too, but I am still looking for that website. These are great for children who get into stuff or hurt themselves. You can use them while you need to get stuff done and can't watch them every second. I also use them in the car sometimes with my son, so he can't hit his face in the sun.
