Is or has anyone getting the Gardasil shot for their daughter? What about the Menactra for Meningitis? If you aren't, why?

my daughter had the guardisil series, her last one was in august.  I decided to go for it because if there is something that can help her from possibly contracting a disease that can lead to a worse disease then i wanted to do all i could to help. i understand that there is still a possibility of cervical cancer but i figured i would do all i could to lessen her chances. the meningitis shot both my kids got (i have 11 year old twins boy/girl). the worst reactions were a sore arm at the injection site.

The ped is really pushing them, that's why I was curious. I think I am going to get my girls the gardasil because it helps prevent cervical cancer. Plus, you can never be too trusting about what a guy has, even if they wait until they are married.

I am not as of right now getting either one to any of my girls. I don't know enough of the long term side effects about them. I worry that we are vaccinating to much and not letting our bodies do what they are suppose to do fight off stuff. For example my daughter has gotten strep throat a few times but I have notice that the more she has gotten it the sooner her body has been fighting it but her doctor is pushing for me to take her to a ear nose throat specialist and have them removed. Why if her body is starting to fight it off itself.... But I do think that everyone has a right to do what they feel the need to do and what ever they decide is OK with me.

I do plan on getting my daughter, who is 13 now the Guardasil shot. NO, I would have never done it anytime before this age. She will be 14 the end of March and is entering highschool next fall.

Hi, I also plan to get the shot for my twin 12 year olds.  But I know for a fact that they do not have sex or boyfriends.  7th grade is a little too early, but they do start young these days.

Have to go to dr for physical and will discuss with her.  They already had the menigitis.

Yes got my 12 year old her first gardasil shot. It was my understanding that it should be given before they start having sex and so far I know she's not. Unfortunately I was a terribly rebellious tween and now having a lot of regrets, remember what I was experimenting with at her age. I wasn't nearly as good of a kid as she is. I agree with the mom who said you can't be too sure what a guy has, and the mom that said she would do whatever she could to prevent her daughter from contracting a disease. This vaccine isn't for something your body can just fight off naturally. My sister is a nurse and also recommended it and she doesn't push All the vaccine's out there. She's not pushing the H1N1 vaccine.
