Studying Spanish

My son's school is learning spanish in two 3 week courses. He just finished his first one and really learned a lot. We have family in Texas and he is vacationing in Mexico this spring so he is loving it. I'm lucky I speak limited spanish so I can handle 4th grade level. LOL

Has anyone else started foreign languages yet? If so which?

My daughter who is 13 is in Honors French, but she is in 8th grade. She loves it! She had it last year and did so well, that she actually tested out of Reading and got accepted into the Honors French this year. I do help her studay, but basically all I have to do is read the words in English and she will tell and/or spell it to me in French!! LOL - It's pretty hard for me, but she is really good at it :)

My kids attend a school that teaches spanish at every grade level. We live in a heavy populated latino area and their father is PR so I think it is a good thing for them. I think it is good thing for any child to learn a foreign language.

My daughter was taking Spanish when she was little and when they started getting into grammar she dropped it. She has it in school and has since 3rd grade. Now in 7th grade she wants to go back to take it again after school. My daughter is hispanic and has a strong need to connect with her heritage. She is adopted and having all the emotions of a teen and being adopted. She knows she is loved and cared for but still has strong feelings about knowing her birth mom.
