Why a Tween girls so nasty?

My almost 11 year old daughter has been playing on two hockey teams all season long.  There is less than one month to go in the season and some of the girls on the all girls team have started telling her she is not welcom and not a part of the team.  Why are girls so nasty?

My DD plays co-ed hockey, she is 1 of only 2 girls on the team. We aren't seeing that kind of behavior, but I think if you get too many girls(of just about any age) they will turn nasty. I am very involved in youth hockey in my area, and have seen the same thing on a lot of all girl teams, and Bantam girls are the worst.

Hate this behavior! My daughter is a victim of this constantly, as was I when I was a kiddo. You may want to read "Queen Bees and Wanna-Bes." It's about Queen Bee behavior among girls. It explains it and offers some tips on helping your daughter (and you, because it hurts us too to see our girls victimized) cope w/it.

Girls think they are it and get like this-it was same with myself growing up I was always the odd one out.

This is an age old question I would love an answer to myself. you just tell your daughter to keep her head held high and proud. She most definitely deserves to be on that team. UGH! I can't stand mean nasty little girl bullies. They take it to the extreme.

Because it's a "bandwagon" situation. Just like you see on here. All it takes is one strong personality to say something mean or nasty and every other little witch jumps on the bandwagon.

Thank you I will look for that book.  I remeber being picked on all the time and I hated it then and I think it hurts more now to see my daughter going through it.
