Saw this in another group and thought it was a good question....

If your child broke the law, would you turn him/her into the police?

As hard as it would be to see them in trouble, I would also. I've heard of the parents who hide their kids when in trouble and all that does it make them think what they did wrong was ok....and..that the parent can shelter them from consequences for the rest of their lives.

My son had a friend 'jailbreak' his ipod. I'm not really familiar with it but apparently it allows him to download all apps for free. If we allowed him to keep the ipod that way, we were basically telling him that stealing was ok.

I would! I once had to turn my own brother in. It broke my heart to do it but i just thought hey he would be in worse trouble if they had to look for him. And if they do the crime I will let them do the time.

It really depends on the circumstance, but if it was a serious crime and turning him in is the best option in the long run, then I would do that.

It really depends on how severe the crime was.

That's what I was thinking as well.

absolutely, and IF I posted their bail....they'd find themselves on the roof painting my dormers and anything else up there. My son already knows the ramifications of breaking the law, not just from whatever the judge gave him, there was hell to pay when he got home

 I completely agree. It's a tough call.

Why do people say you can't have your cake and eat it too? Why would somebody get cake if they can't eat it??!!

Yep and if my child ever gets arrested they will be in jail till they face a judge and face whatever punishment. I will not pay for a lawer if over 18.
