I need some advice

My 8 year old daughter has come up to me many many times complaining that her legs are hairy and she gets made fun of at school. Now, she really does have very hairy legs like I did when I was her age and I can remember it being very embarrassing. I don't want her to sneak and try to shave like I did, so my question is do you think it would be ok to get veet or some other hair removing cream and use that on her legs?? Or would you just try and wait it out? I really feel bad for her, but at the same time I'm not sure it's safe to use at her age. I need advice!!!

why not just a saftey razor...the ones with the wires to prevent cuts....Venus is like that and my first razor was circular with five blades....I would use a remover as you don't know how harsh it may be on her sensitive little girl skin, but a saftey razor and a good lotion after seems fine.

Thank you! Do you mean the razors with the vertical wires?

I would go ahead and show her how to properly shave her legs.  I personally never liked the hair removal cremes and things.  She is pretty young but if you show her how to do it correctly so she doesn't hurt herself she should be fine.

I have bad reactions to the creams, so I'm afraid she will too, but I don't want her to cut herself up like I did. hmmm, maybe I'll teach her to shave with a venus razor or maybe I could get an electric razor....thanks for replying!! :)

This.  If you show her how to shave properly and help her the first few times, she will be fine.  My youngest was 9 when she started shaving and she has done a good job so far :)  I would def stay away from the creams as those can be harsh on the skin.

Definitely a razor. The chemicals in those removers are harsh, even if you don't have a reaction.

Yep :O) sounds good to me if that doesn't work maybe help her shave them :O) no reason for her to be embarrassed or made fun of over something so simple.

My daughter and I went thru the same thing. It was a nice bonding moment showing her how to shave. She was about 7 or 8 too. I felt bad for her too because she was embarrassed to wear shorts. She broke out from Veet though. Stick with a good razor and she should be ok.

My 11yr old dd had the same problem, I didn't let her shave until age 10, but now that I look back at it, I wish I would've let her do it earlier, would've saved her some embarrassment, but it just didn't seem right to let her do it earlier, at that age.  To do it over, I would let her shave at least at 9.
