Does any one have a child that is or may be schizophrenic?

I have a 4 year old that I am adopting. His bio mom is schizophrenic, and his therapist has said that some of the issues we are having could possibly be early signs of it in him. But no diagnosis at this point. Idk if that helps at all?

My step-daughter's bio mom is schizophrenic and when we took SD to a dr for ADD, he saw that in her file and without any evaluation prescribed anti-phsychotics instead of ADD meds. SO, I didn't give them to my then 5 year old SD, because I do NOT believe she has it. I read that it usually doesn't show up in people until they are adults though so I guess she has a 50% chance and we'll wait and see for now!

The average onset for males is 21 and females is 27 so most people wouldn't have children with schizophrenia.

Actually the chances of her developing it are only 13%. Glad you held off on the medication.

I couldn't see his reasoning as legit so I never filled the script and never went back to that quack! He asked her (she was 5) if she talks to herself and she said YES, so he said OH SHE MUST HAVE IT! What 5 yr old girl doesn't talk to herself sometimes. She would do it when she was watching TV or playing with her barbies. I couldn't believe this guy!
