My 13 year old daughter received a full scholarship to Mexico from our church. She would travel with church members to Mexico and then work on building houses for 4 days during spring break. I would love for her to go but my husband says I am insane, NO way is his daughter going to Mexico without him. He cant even believe I would consider this. My daughter is heartbroken since she can't go... Would you let your daughter go to Mexico with her church group?
Mexico - - is a pretty dangerous place these days. My answer would be provided AFTER I researched where in Mexico they were going, security, etc.
Depends on which part of Mexico. There is a lot of drug vilence in certain areas, literally thousands have been murdered in the border areas and west coast areas, many tourists. We got to Cancun every year, and there aren't those problems there. Every country has its problems including ours. I would do research on which area the church is going to, and make the decision. You shoud always do this kind of research when your children are involved IMHO.
I would be scared to let my DD go maybe if she was around 15 or 16 but at 13 is still to young to be away from home for that many days. I be panicking all the time and worrying to much what might happen if I sent her.
Given that it's Mexico, I would say no.
My son's best friend goes to Mexico every winter break, and he's been begging for my son to go with him. His parents said that he could join them if we pay the airfare. My husband and I haven't even considered the offer given how unsafe Mexico is.
I actually went to Juarez on a church project when I was 13. Things have changed so much down there, though, and I would not allow my daughter to go.
