Are you going to implement a reading or writing challenge?

The library has a reading challenge and so does Barnes & Noble.  I like the library's challenge because it has a lot of different things they need to do like read a book from the library, make a meal using one of the cookbooks from the library, watch a movie from a book from the library, etc.

Are you going to implement a reading or writing challenge this summer?

I did want to do something to help my son keep his skills up during the summer, and these sound like great ideas. I think I will check my library to see if they have something like this.

My kids will be reading, helping cook and learning more about nature.

Nah.  I started forcing my son to read last summer, and I was going to make him do a book report to prove he'd read the book, but once he got started reading he became a huge bookworm, tearing through books almost as quickly as I can.  He wants to read the Hunger Games books this summer....he just finished the Harry Potter series the other day.

I love the ideas... not sure I can implement them. My son is so stubborn about reading! I think I will look into this further 'cause it sounds like fun to me.

I make my son still read 30 minutes a day throughout the summer.

we do the library's summer reading program.  they give prizes and when each kid finishes their first reading log they get a ticket to the party at the end of the program.

We just read for fun but my daughter will be doing more writing this summer.  I want to help her get to another level with her writing.
