When we went camping last summer, we just got things like hot dogs for dinner and chorizo and eggs for breakfast.

We always did hot dogs, chips, snacks, hobo pies and s'mores.

we make beef stew, corn on the cop, dutch oven meals, steaks, home made pizzas, basically anything you can make at home you can do at a camp site especially if you have a dutch oven..

We usually make red beans and rice with sausage. One pot meal and filling.

1 mom liked this

Make foil packets ahead of time then they can just be tossed on the grill/coals.

Don't forget that if you don't want traditional smores, you can stuff a banana with chocolate chips and marshmallows, wrap it in foil and toss it on the coals

Like others have said, if you cook it at home you can cook it while camping.  You use your hot coals like an oven and either put your food in a cast iron dutch oven or foil packets.  Your grill or camp stove is used like your cook top at home.  We typically pack our meats in the cooler frozen that way they stay fresher longer when it is hot.  We also pack our spaghetti sauce frozen too, as it acts like a block of ice.

One of our faves is a foil-wrapped one- boneless, skinless chicken breasts topped w/ bbq sauce and chopped-up red and green peppers. We put it on the grate over the campfire for about 20 mins. We "fry" diced up potatoes w/ butter on the griddle on the camp stove to go w/ it.

Foil wraps and cooking on a grill top the fire is how we have cooked w/ dutch ovens and on a stick too.

That sounds tempting. Gonna have to try that one.
