The movie is coming out on July 5th.  It's PG and my daughter (turning 9) wants to see it for her birthday.  I don't mind letting her see it but she wants to take her friends.

Would you take a group of 9 year olds to see this?

I'd like to thank everyone for posting.  I've gotten some great feedback.  I know each of us have different opinions of what we would allow and not allow.  Considering that the movie is PG, I will first make sure that is what she actually wants to do then let the parents know ahead of time to see if they have any objections.  Knowing the families, I would say they probably don't have a problem but I will put it out there anyways....better safe than sorry.  If there are any objections, my daughter would gladly be willing to change her plans (because she has a back up + back up + back up ideas!! haha).  I know that I would allow her to watch it....just like I let her watch Micahel Jackson's "This is It" documentary so maybe that would be a "mommy and me" outing at another time if we don't do it for her birthday with her friends.

I would leave it up to the individual parents.

If it is PG I don't see why not.  But I would check out commonsensemedia.org for their review and also ask the other parents if they are fine with it.

My ten year old wants to see it. I said okay. I will probably take a friend with us but most of my daughter's friends are very exposed to everything our culture has to offer. We live in a city, taking a walk can be R rated at times.

I have only heard of it because there was something on Yahoo about the other day. So glad that my kids are not into pop music.

I might get permission from the parents before taking them.
