My son is 11 and we have trouble getting him to take showers and change clothes. Anyone have suggestions?
My daughter will take showers but she wants to wear the same damn shirts over and over and over again.....sometimes socks too. I tell her we are not going anywhere until she changes. Maybe you don't go anywhere or he doesn't get anything until he showers.
This is what we do. Maybe just make showering a part of the daily routine.

DD thinks she only has one set of clothes to wear. Showers are daily but the same clothes are an issue. I tell her change or she can't go with me, or play her game, etc. The DS is 15 and we used to go through the same thing, but now he showers daily and the deoderant and cologne are part of the routine. It takes time and they do get better...LOL
A good friend of mine and I explained it to our boys in a very interesting way. We were at her house hanging out one afternoon and her and I were talking about back in HS, we went to school together, and talking about the kid with the hair that was so greasy you could fry french fries in it, the kid whose clothing was nasty, dirty looking, and the kid who stunk like a skunk. Then she asked me if I remembered my lab partner in biology and I gave her a blank stare and had no idea who my lab partner was. Yep, our boys got the message. Twenty some years later, we remembered the smelly, dirty kids and they don't want to be remembered for that.
Hmmm........well we don't really inforce it. we tell him he should and that if he doesn't some point and time he may be made fun of by kids.
Showers are a nightly ritual in our house, the boys have been doing it for years. My youngest has started not using soap tho.... he just stands under the water, no soap, no shampoo. It drives me insane. So now I threaten to go in there and scrub him, that way I know he is clean. That seems to have done the trick for now!!!
