My son is a bully! Help!!

My 12 y/o DS is a bully. He is constantly picking on his 3 brothers most of the time. Im to the point where I don't know why to do with him.....Consequences haven't helped, he's still rude to us. I've never heard anything bad from school so I'm assuming that it's I only at home...

My suggestion is to work on teaching him empathy.

It is common for sublings to pick on each other, but not constantly. I agree with Barbara about teaching empathy.

He's calling names and constantly picking weather they tell him to atop or not. It probably is the empathy part that he's missing because it doesn't show that it bothers him when they do it to him.

Also don't know if we should talk about how bullying affects people to the point of suicide? Is he too young for that? He has done bullying stuff at school for the Dare program tho

Although the thought has crossed my mind and so did a bunch of not so nice words that went through my head this morning when we were at the beach. Funny how we had to leave because of my 12 year old and not my 6 year old!

I would research and discuss all the affects of bullying. At 12 years old, he should understand the full consequences of his actions. Given that my son is the same age and we've had talks about death and what suicide is, I don't think he's too young.
