What do you do over th summer for treatment? anything? this Summer, my nine year old is getting his last bit of ABA therapy.
I will also be doing his "refresher course" soon, for things like multiplication tables, basic facts, reading, etc.
That is terrible, I am so sorry.
Quoting shimmifairy:So many of us, Hun... I don't have any info for you because we don't live in an area that has that kind of support....But you can go online and look into things that you can do yourself or use what they do in his therapies at home...
Don't be sorry :) I've learned so much about Autism from having to educate myself and others about it and find ways to help my kids through it....
My oldest is 19 and is on the leading edge of that wave that has followed...We're still blazing a trail in awareness and acceptance now that he is in college ;p I'm working with Student Disability Services right now at his school and lwt me tell ya, they have no idea what to do....I tell them that we need to work it out, because there are more on their way,lol....

Not here. I often wondered of my middle son was on the spectrum but he seems to have emerged from his shell and had a personality change in the past few months. He has started being more responsive emotionally and not just when things don't go the way that he wants them to. I used to never get hugs but now I get a hug and kiss every morning and several through out the day. He would get very upset at the smallest of things, even his teachers noticed and had talked to me about seeing if he was on the spectrum, but now that behavior is going away.
It is good that he passed his grade.
Quoting fineyouguyswin:They are thinking my middle son might. We are waiting to get him tested still. He attended summer school(although regardless he passed ihs grade)
My sister was a child with autism before autism was even considers what it is now. So raising a child with such difficulties was hard to come by for help. She is now in 2nd year of college in special education. So needless to say I wish I could be helpful. But you are already ahead of the game with helping your child. You are one of the best parents I've hear of advocating and pushing thru for him.
Best of luck
