Is there any advice on what to do with my 10 year old?  She had developed an attitude over the past year.  What ever I tell her she talks back and acts like she knows it all.  Any advice????

Punishment for her behavior. Don't acknowledge when she speaks to you that way either. Tell her you will only have a conversation with her when she can speak to you respectfully.

And be consistent!

Also.....do acknowledge her when she IS talking to you respectfully.

Welcome to the tween years. Hugs! LOL

I agree with what's been said already. I also had talks with my son about attitude and what my expectations are from him, even though he's dealing with changing hormones.

Being through this before, it's possibly her just changing. going through puberty changes alot of their emotions. I suggest punishment like, no t.v., cell phone, electronics, ect.

I have the exact same post.  Just keep explaining whose boss, and she needs to do some research before speaking as a know it all.  Put her in her place, because I guarantee it will start affecting her friendships at school.  I have been putting up with it for over a year, and it hasn't changed.  The best we can do is keep plugging away.  Good luck, this is the part that definately sucks!  And it's ok to say "I love my dd, but I really don't like her", very common.

Thanks Everyone!

I am going to put to use what you have told me.  I am so glad that I found this group.  I need other moms like myself , who is going through the same thing to talk to and get help.  Thanks again!

My 9.5 and 11 years old dd's have attitudes too!!! When the attitude rears its ugly head, I send them to their rooms! If they want to be nasty, they can do so in their room without an audience!
