I have mentioned several times that I'm a college advisor.  Well, right now we are doing a 4 week orientation (like a summer bridge) for almost 200 incoming freshmen.  My coworker and I were talking about our experiences so far and we were laughing at lunch.  These are some of the things we heard from parents when they arrived on Saturday:

- Who is going to be waking them up?

- Who is going to be doing their laundry?

- Who is going to be taking them to their classes?

- You mean parents don't stay after the students check-in?

- Who is going to be making his bed?

- We got his room, I made his bed, I put his clothes away....is there anything else I should do before I leave?

Please don't be one of these parents when your child goes off to college!!! hahaha

Wow... My kids will know how to do all this before they leave the house. I am in the process of teaching them how to use our front-loading computerized machines (slowly, they cost a lot and I don't want to replace them anytime soon, lol) and they already know how to make their beds. If they can't go to their classes on their own then I have completely failed as a parent, lol.

LMAO  Haven't these parents been to college before?

The funniest part of this is that my youngest son (he's nearly 9) can wake himself up, make his own bed, do his own laundry, make his own lunch, etc.  How can you have an 18 year old child who can't take care of themselves?

Well, many of these parents did not go to college which is why these students qualify for this program but.....still.......at what point do you stop doing for them and making them do it themselves??
