No allowances here.

I may do incentives for how many pages they read.  I was giving $1 for every 100 pages they read (no matter what level) and it worked to give them some motivation to do their reading (instead of the gripes).  I don't do it now because they are reading on a daily basis.

my kids don't get an allowance but they do get paid for chores.  i calculated it the other day, my 11 year old can make up to about $6 a week and my 8 year old can make up to $5 a week.  this all depends on whether or not they actually do their chores.

No, but every few months we will buy them something like a new book or something else they've really been wanting within reason for their help and hard work.

Nope I don't believe in paying them to do what they need to, to help make this family of 6 run like a well oiled machine.

They each get paid $5 a week for chores like vaccuuming, mopping, dishes, taking out the garbage, dusting etc. It goes onto a reloadable visa card because they like to shop online. I don't pay them for cleaning their rooms or for doing school work because their supposed to do it anyways.

My kids arent tweens yet, but i pay them for the extra things they do. Like sweeping the driveway, cleaning sticks out of yard, helping wash the vehicles. The get 1 dollar for each project like this that they do completly. For chores... they get nothing. I dont pay them for things that NEED to b done everyday.

We do this too.  They don't ask for much at all but every once in awhile we'll consider it if they have have been responsible and respectful.  I would say we "spoil" them more by taking them to the movies or doing those things rather than getting them a game or toys.

We are trying to do more things like this now that my husband has gotten a promotion at work. It has been hard being a one income family, but his promotion is about what I would bring home while working and going to school- it means we can do so much more with them. They value the experiences a lot.

We give them a small allowance.  It comes out to about $3 a week.  But, they have plenty of opportunity to acquire more though special jobs such as mowing the lawn, doing laundry and such.

HOWEVER, we only pay them once a quarter so they don't spend all the money at once.  Although, they are pretty good about not spending it all anyway.  The have the option to put it all in savings, keep it all (in the piggy banks) or give it to charity.  Or, they can split it up any way they feel.  Usually they put somewhere around 50%-75% in savings and split the rest.
