I just finished one of ds1's books- it's the first book in The Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flannagan called The Ruins of Gorlan. I'll probably start both the 2nd book in that series (The Burning Bridge) and the next book in The Dreamers series by David and Leigh Eddings (The Treasured One) while camping this weekend.

I read so much fanfiction it's ridiculous. My faves right now are the Quiet Storm trilogy and High Fidelity.

A Warmth of Other Suns

It's about the Black Americans' migration from the south to the east and the west.  It's actually for work but very interesting.

Sounds like you are learning while reading. That is always a plus.
