To begin using and posting to this site? My 12 yr old already signed up and is posting bad language. I of course can't let his BFF see bitch and oh shit( sorry). Any idea on age would help a lot before I speak to my son. Thanks

How about the appropriate age is when mom says he is responsible. Apparently that is not now.

I've had a nice (mean) talk with him and resolved to my extent. Ill see what happens. But now that I see his posts I can monitor him closely.

This. I realize that it's easier to deal with a tween when you have some facts to back your argument (you are legally not old enough to have an account, so take yours down), but that does not trump your parental discretion (you have not proven that you are mature enough to use this, so you will stop).

I'm either feeling very good Or else I am insane.
The seeds of doubt you planted Have started to grow wild
And I feel that I must yield before The wisdom of a child.
And it's love you bring,
No, that I can't deny
With your wings,
I can learn to fly,
Sweet young thing."

It's kind of like Twitter, except you only post pictures.

I wouldn't let him use instagram until he can act responsibly.I know kids will post and say dumb things but learning how to be respectful online and offline is a must.

Exactly!  There are a whole bunch of adults that don't know how to do that so I'm starting to delete them from my FB.  I don't have instagram because one friend that invited me to do it, I started looking at his pics and they were basically cartoon porn.

Plus, as a teacher, I have seen my school discipline students for things they put on Instagram if it is school-related.  In addition, it is a huge problem because students take pictures of other kids in class and post not-so-nice things about other kids.  I have talked with our principal about starting an Instagram program to use the technology for good instead of evil because we have had so many problems with this site.
