Is 13 a Milestone?

My daughter is turning 13 in November and she wants a big party to commemorate her becoming an official teen. Since I was raised on again off again Jehovah Witness that never had birthday parties I'm always all about throwing big birthday parties. But I've received some negative feedback from other moms. Apparently I'm being told 13 isn't a milestone. It's just another birthday that deserves nothing more then a cake and family dinner. Do you agree??

It's a 'fun' milestone but not a big party milestone

I think it's an important milestone, since it has those four letters - T E E N - at the end.    My daughter also will turn 13 in November and is already talking about a party.   We're not going to rent a banquet hall or anything like that, but maybe something a little bigger than usual.   Needless to say, it will be girls and boys!

I agree.  And, honestly, if she sees it as a big milestone, then that's what it is!

I'd probably let her have a few girl friends over to stay the night.

I think that becoming a teen is a huge deal. In 4 years when my daughter's a teen, she'll be getting a pretty big party even if I have to go for broke.

In the Jewish religion, 13 is a very big deal. I think it's special because it's the start of teenagehood. Do what you feel comfortable doing, don't let others tell you what to do.

I feel 13 is a milestone. Sadly, finacially I couldn't do what I would've liked but I did manage to give dd 13 a Roller skating party with her absolute favorite THEME cake ( Inuyasha)  (Anime). It was a good party, coud've been better but I'm saving for dd's 16 party now.
