Hello, I need some advice. My dd has been talking to this boy from school who she likes but he recently sent her a picture of his private area. Basically, we of course were upset and explained to her that it was VERY WRONG to send something like that plus, explaining to her that the boy obviously didn't respect her enough in the first place. We told her she needs to tell him not to send anything like that again and so on. She was crying because she really likes him but I don't know how else to let her know that he's a jack a_ _!! I also had her txt him to give us his home phone or to call us because I wanted to speak with his mother or father about it. Needless to say it took him txting a couple of times asking why and I had to finally get on the phone and txt saying that this is dd mother and would like for him to call. He said okay and did. My dd answered and told him that we found out about the picture and he said " omg,...are you okay?" Then he said that he had to go get his mom and would call back. It was over an hour and 1/2 before he txt back asking my dd how much trouble she got in. When I told her to tell him if his mom knew he said yes and that she didn't want to talk to anyone because she is mad.
I want to make sure his mom/dad knows what happened but how can I find out? What would you guys do? I don't want to ruin school life for her but yet no one should get away with that either. Should I contact the school about this or leave it at that. I basically feel that I need to teach my dd what is appropriate and not appropriate and what to do about it. Any ideas or what else I can do for my dd? Punishment etc?? ........................![]()
Contacting the school could ruin this 11yo's life forever. Not a good idea IMO.
Quoting dianah1:There is no way that I would let her have contact with the boy again until I spoke with the boys parents. I would aslo contact the school. Our schools have policies aobut texting and what is sent. As for the daughter, I would explain to her how inappropriate the material was. She may not understand now and probably will be mad for awhile. Don't give in just because she gets mad. Give her time. It's a hard age. I remember just wanting to do stuff because my parents said no. Keep the faith.
God Bless,
Diana
Still haven't spoke with his parents yet. My dd hasn't even wanted to txt or handle her phone. She says she just doesn't want to txt for awhile. I was thinking about sending that boy a txt again asking for his home #. I WANT that boy to know that I have not forgotten about this.

Then it would be his own fault!! i have 3 sons and believe me if they did something like that they would have to pay the consequences. As far as my dd goes, if I were you then I would take the cell phone away and she would not get it until I get my way. She knew about it and did not tell you right away and at that age they will say what you want to hear to keep from getting in trouble. I am sure she did not just ask him for that pic bcI have an 11 year odl dd also, but I am sure he asked and she was curious and said ok. Thats kids, but def take the phone away and the house phone privledges. JMO. Good Luck
He is not a SEXUAL OFFENDER at 11! It's childish BS that needs to be stoped! and it will not be stoped with out a mediation! And who say's he's only 11 too???? we dont know how old he is..... at 11, she's probably 6th grade...... he could be 14-15.... an 8th grader??? either way....... I disagree, that as a young child he would get conviceted as a sexual offender....... it's not a legal issue! it is a moral one! and the only way it could go legal is if mama wants it too....

And by doing this, you will possibly ruin this childs entire life by having him convicted as a sexual offender. It's not what this young boy needs.

If you want to, you can ALWAYS get the school involved... it is SEXUAL HARRASSMENT........they will make sure mom find out, and probably have a confrence with your fam and his............
Do I need to post all of the links by google searching "teen cell phone child porn"
There's WAYYYYYYYYYY too many of these going to the COURTS and these children being put on sex offender lists. It's out of control. I'd NEVER consider going to the authorities or the school (who's required to report it to the police).
The legal system in THIS scenaro is way out of line and treating the situations completely wrong. Until its fixed, i'd never resort to it or tell anyone to resort to it.
It is infact a legal issue. The boy produced an indecent picture of his penis, which will be deemed as child pornography. He can be arrested and convicted as an adult in most states, for creating and distributing child pornography, possession of child pornography, corruption of a minor, sexual offense against a child, indecent exposure to a child.
ALL of the above can be charged to this child, and under the Adam Walsh Act, this boy would be required to register as a sex offender FOR HIS ENTIRE LIFE.
I'm not aruging the right or wrong of sex offender lists or laws. Im stating what could happen to this child. And for those of you who dont beleive it is happening, wake up.

I agree with this. i would involve the school. If he is sending this kind of stuff to this little girl what is he sending to other students? I would rather have my child safe than worry about the outcome of the little boy. He knows right from wrong and he made the choice to do something that is inappropriate and should be made to face the consequences.
For one, we dont even know that it was done at school. If it wasnt, then why would we involve the school? Uh.. Lets see.. My son didnt goto church, lets tell the school! If it was on school grounds, It's still something that can FULLY be adequatly handed between the two parents.
Secondly... I'm glad we have other parents out there who'd endanger other preteen children's futures over something like this. Those of you who'd do this to an 11-12yo need to have your heads examined and i'd definitly not want either of my children, boy or girl, around you or your children. You obviously dont know how to raise your children, if you require government agencies to help you handle a preteen boy. That's pretty sad.

I guess then, I wondering at what age do you think a potential sex offender should be reported?? There are sex offenders who start out at a very young age, for example, the two 13 yo's who raped my 13 yo sister. Would you not report them because they were only 13 and would have to forever register as sex offenders??? Obviously, rape and the picture are different issues. But I think the fear that most of us feel is that it all starts somewhere. At what point to you report or not report??? What age or offense do you consider to be reportable?
I refuse to get into an argument about sex offenders, as seen in this specfic group on numerous occasions, it's never civil and nobody's willing to look at anyone's oppinion other than their own. Half the people have been, or claim to have been, abused themselves, and there's a ton of men haters around.
There's HUGE difference between a kid sending a picture of his penis to a girl, than a PAIR of 13yos forcibly raping someone.
and FYI, I think if they are going to make an age of consent, an age to drink liquor, an age to vote, an age that its legal to be an ADULT, that ANYONE accused or convicted of ANY crime below that age must only be tried as a child.
