Okay the group is starting to take off a little....so maybe its a good time for intros!

My name is Angie and I have a four month old little boy. My little guy hardly cried at all after he was born....but within about 6 weeks things took a turn. Athyn was diagnosed with colic and I struggled to figure out what was really behind his crying for two months. THen one day it was gone just as fast as it arrived. So Athyn is much better now although I would still consider him a high need baby lol! So I started this group in hopes to relate to other mom's who know how hard it is to raise an infant with colic.

  • Hello.  My third daughter (by adoption, first two were bio) is 5 weeks old.  When she was about 3 weeks she started to get really fussy in the evenings.  the daytime isn't so bad, but by late afternoon she is beginning to get fussy. Last night...3 hours. ... VACCUM is our best friend for now, but last night that didn't help sometimes!

Her 1/2 brother has acid reflux, so I am not sure if that is what she has or colic.  She awakes in the night about every 2.5 hours. She is gaining and eating fine.

I go back to work on Friday so it will be an adjustment no doubt. At least so far she doens't get too fussy during the day! I think I will be trying some of the remedies you all suggested!

  • I'm Stacy.
My son is 1 mo. old and we're fighting colic (or so we think). he goes to the GI doc. July 8th so hopefully we'll have some answers.
(I'm currently holding him so it's hard for me to type)
Mason has diarrhea, gas, and fits of screaming and crying for no apparent reason. We've switched to lactose free formula and just bought some of Dr. Brown's bottles. He seems a bit better but there's stll something wrong. He refuses to touch Alimentum so as far as the elimination route goes we're pretty much at a stand still until he sees the GI.

(Please educate yourself before making decisions about your babies. Early cord clamping, Pitocin, Vitamin K, Vaccines.  "INFORMED DECISIONS" Make sure you know the facts before you decide!)

  • My name is Tara. I have a month old little boy. It just recently started about 2 weeks ago (although it feels more like a lifetime.). We go through gas pains every day especially in the early evening. I am breastfeeding and trying to watch EVERYTHING but he still gets gassy. I am so glad someone started a support group because it can be so stressful.

  • Hi im Lee im 23 year old mom to a 12 month old Girl and a 1 month old boy. My son came a month early and spent some time in NBSCU.. He had eatin problems from the start. When he came home we noticed he was always moaning.. we didnt think nothing of it until we realized that it was pain he was in..  He was diagnosed yesterday with Colic (i knew he had it for a week now but just waited till his 1 month weight check) Its very hard because hes the worst at night. It wouldnt be so bad if i didnt have to be up with my Daughter at 7am.  me and dh take turns being sleep deprived. My son will only sleep if someone is holding him..My daughter is teething...

  • Hi my name is Elendria and I am 33 yr old mom to my beautiful baby boy who is going to be 10 weeks old. He was born a month early and like most of the other mothers he didn't have signs of colic until after he was seven weeks old. He didn't even cry when I finally brought him home. Now he stays up from nine at night to three even five in the morning with out sleep. My husband especially me because he works, is going delerious right about now. He also has acid reflux and he has been on Zantac but I really don't see any difference. The doctor just prescribed him Prevecid and we will see how this works. His formula has been changed so many times ( I also breast feed so sometimes I think it's me) I can sell some cans from out of my house..lol. He is now on soy formula cause the doctor says he may have issues with regular milk. I just can't wait to get some sleep for me and my baby...I feel so helpless at times and it's truely frustrating.

  • Hi. I'm Kristen. My daughter is just about a month old & out of the blue she has just started crying all the time. My son who is 3 had reflux but was never colicy like this.  I have changed her formula to soy but I am sure that will take a few days to see a difference. I have to hold her all the time or she will just cry, cry, cry. I feel like my son is suffering from this because I can't spend the time with him that I want to. Very frustrating. I am taking her to the doctor in a few days but I know there is nothing that can be done I just have to wait it out. The good part is she does sleep at night...( I hope I didn't jinx myself.) It's the day that is the hardest. Well, I hope to get some good tips from this group or just some adice to help me cope....I feel like I am going crazy!

Proud mom to Michael & Ava.

  • Hi I'm Janet,

I have a 12 year old DD and a 3month old DD.  My 3 month old has had colic. Crying 5-7 hours a day, I thought I was going to go crazy, I have never been around a baby with this.  Doctor told us just to wait it out.  But A friend suggested a couple of things. 1 the book The Happiest Baby on the Block.  This was great for understanding what colic was and to help rule out anything else.  Was also great for the Husband to better understand too.  BUT the best thing that my friend recommended was this swaddling wrap called the MIRACLE BLANKET.  I like you probably are saying yea right.  But I would like to tell you that it is like a on/off switch!  It is amazing!  The first night I put her in it she slept over 8 hours straight. Now she is sleeping 10-12 hours a night with out any feedings. (she's 3months old, i don't even get that much sleep! ) I purchased mine on ebay but they also have their own web site (do a google search). If anyone has any questions please contact me I would love to help any other mom and of course help the lil ones to rest and relax.
