Okay the group is starting to take off a little....so maybe its a good time for intros!

My name is Angie and I have a four month old little boy. My little guy hardly cried at all after he was born....but within about 6 weeks things took a turn. Athyn was diagnosed with colic and I struggled to figure out what was really behind his crying for two months. THen one day it was gone just as fast as it arrived. So Athyn is much better now although I would still consider him a high need baby lol! So I started this group in hopes to relate to other mom's who know how hard it is to raise an infant with colic.

  • Hi, I'm Julie

I have myofascial pain syndrome, a 2.5 yo toddler dd, and a colicly 3.5 month old ds.  My dh been on quite a few TDY's lately (he's a SSG in the army), the post clinic is now backed up since doc's have left but their replacement's aren't here yet.   I can't get in for 3 weeks and that appointment has since been canceled and my flexiril has run out (now using up my zanaflex stash) and my MPS is faring up.  I can't get him in for 2 weeks for whatever his little problem is (his appointment is in the morning).  He's been crying 2 to 5 hours a day for 5 to 6 weeks now.  On the bright side he has more or less sleep through the night since birth (we co-sleep).  Waiting to stop breastfeeding to try Lyrica, and we just found a bottle he will take (bottle number 7).   DS is now 3.5 months old and is all about the boobie.  He nurses much better but also has weight gain issues.  We have been supplmenting a few oz. with formula on demand and have weeklyish  weight checks.  We've tried 7 bottles, 3 sippy cups, cupping, medicine dropper, and by spoon. So what works is one foofooy bottle, supplemental nursing system and the spoon (we thicken the formula with rice cereal even thought he is was only 2 months at the time).  Can't think anymore...going to bed now that he's gone to sleep

  • My name is Kristal, and my little girl is 6 weeks old. She is generally a good baby, but is still colicky, it usually shows up more at night. I dread the evenings, especially around 4-5pm when she just starts screaming. There's nothing wrong, she's fed, diapered, moved around, held, whatever we can think of.. she just screams and screams. She was put on reflux medicine at the hospital because of a breathing issue that nobody can diagnose, so she's been on Reglan and Zantac for all 6 weeks of life,. Just yesterday we went to the doctor, and they took her off the Reglan. My doc said that one of the side effects of Reglan is stomach irritability. So we're hoping that and a change in the type of bottles we use will help make her a little more comfortable. I joined this group to talk to some other moms who have colicky babies too, I know its sometimes difficult to deal with, and my baby isn't even all that bad.

  • Hi all,

My name is Donna and after having worked with pre-school aged children for over twenty years, I have had my first baby.  Logan was a delight to carry inside of me for nine months.  His birth was difficult and eventually he had to be delivered by c-section.  We both recovered quickly and the first two weeks were fairly easy.  Since that first fortnight, easy is a term not used in conjunction with Logan.  lol  I love him very much and see everyday wonderful things about his blooming personality.  But, the constant upsets and crying are making our lives challenging to say the least.  I know this like all thing concerning babies is a temporary situation but that doesn't console me much when I am exhausted, hormonal, hungry, need to use the bathroom and have been holding an inconsolable baby for six hours.  Then he looks up at me and smiles.......

    I love being a mommy!

  • Hi,

You could try gripe water before she eats.  That works for my lil one.

    Good luck!

  • Hi my name is Dusti. I'm a mom of three and a survivor of COLIC now twice. My now 3 year old daughter had it up until her 3 rd month and now my newborn son is suffering and so am I right along with him. Uhhggggg and here I hoped I'd catch a break. Anyhow I'm from Savannah Georgia and thought joining a group where I'm not alone in dealing with this COLIC would help me look for suggestions and resolutions possibley. HELLO to everyone in the group.

  • Hello Mommies!

My name is Jenna, I'm a mother to a brand new, beautiful 5 weeks old little girl. This is our fourth baby, & we are living a whole new experience with this one! She has got to be colic, and surely fits all of the symptoms for it. We deal with it the worst at night, and both being very calm natured people (probably because of already raising three:), we still have been quite tested during this few weeks. But things have gotten to the point that we realized we both cannot afford to not get sleep, so since daddy works a weekday 9-5 job and I am a stay at home mother, I take the weekday nights, he takes the weekends, and one of us stays downstairs with the little one, to allow the other a good nights sleep. Only problem with my "time off" is I am breastfeeding, and we have still not succeeded in getting her to wait any longer than EVERY two hours to eat....whether day or night.

So yes, I am a stay at home mother, but I do have to tend to three other children all day (I homeschool the oldest two, but with my exhaustion getting the best of me lately, we are looking into public school, even though homeschooling is more of a fit for us & them) Anyway, during the day it has gotten to the point that I have to lay her down SCREAMING just to take 10 minutes and make the fastest meals I have ever made for the other three during breakfast and lunch. The other three kids are lacking attention so bad, and its not fair to them either. But more than anything, it absolutely breaks my heart to see my little girl act like she is in so much pain. We hold her 24/7, and I truly mean 24/7, and we have been trying method after method.

I guess I am looking for any answers, suggestions, advice, or soothing (for us too! lol) that anyone here can offer. A couple of things I want more information on are breastfeeding and colic, sleeping issues (she HATES her bassinet, but we cant lay her in the swing to sleep at night, every night!) new bassinet? Honestly, any little bit would help...

    Thank you so much.

    <3Jenna

  • Hello and welcome! My son is now 10 weeks, we switched him to Alimentum almost 5 weeks ago, he's still as gassy as ever. Just not having the cramping as much, maybe once a day, or more towards the evening. Have you tried the warm baths, massage, excersizing the legs to push out the gas? I have taken my son to a chiropractor as well, he has "1 more treatment" but i am thinking he may need more. I dont know if by 3 months this will pass, tho I amPRAYING>

I have to return back to work in  3 weeks so it will be hard for us again. my dh is working, while i was at home, but now.........it'll be a challange.
