I walk with my daughter and make a shhhhh noise. It helps settle her down. She also likes to be rocked and have the shhhh noise made.
gripe water works for eva & mylicon
Quoting RyleeJae:
Has anyone tried little remedies gripe water? I have used it all day today and Raegan is doing awesome!! She is sleeping right now!!!!!! OMG I feel so good about it. I have tried everything....even the chiropractor and nothing really works. But it seems like this does.
These soothies are hit or miss with my son but work at least sometimes: Fischer Price Papason cradle swing, swaddling for naps and bed always!, binky, bouncing on exercise ball, walking around house and rocking him, rocking chair, radio, singing to him, clicking my tongue, covering his eyes when he is tired (sounds inhumane but try it!), rubbing his face with our hands or soft blanky, and wearing him in a sling facing outward only. My boy is almost 3 months - isn't it supposed to end soon! I hope so!
we used the miracle blanket . The first night she slept 8 hours now at 3 months old she is sleeping 10-12 hours a night with no feedings. before the miracle blanket we tried everything swinging walking bouncy ball, gripe water, gas meds, everything. This miracle blanket was the best swaddling blanket we found, no velcro, easy to use. When she is crying, and I start to wrap her in the blanket she starts smiling and with in 3 minutes she is asleep. I LOVE IT.
My ds was "high needs" for the 1st 2 months and has been colicly for 5 or 6 weeks now. We went back to the basics, starting with the 5 S's. As a note He seems to like chaos and going out will help him sleep.
Sucking- Nursing is not longer the cureall it was but we have tricked him into taking a pacifer with Karo Syrup. Now he doesn't need the reward to take a pacifer all the time but it's not a cureall. We used gas medicine with my dd but she was into the pacifer much more than ds.
Swing - We have 2 swings now and at first they didn't help him. He had to be held all the time (I babywear) at 1st but the swings help him calm down now if he gets noise and swaddlng with it. With dd all I had to do was put her in the swing and life was easy .
Shh - He now likes the sound of a blowdryer. I found a mp3 file of a blow dryer online and play it for almost all of nap time (sometimes for hours). Sometimes it's not loud enough so I will use a real blowdryer to clam him down until just the recording will be okay for him. Also found a CD with womb noises, water flowing, blow dryer, and vacum noises. You can also turn on the radio and tune it inbetween stations for static. I've heard that works for some but not ds.
Swaddle - This didn't work at 1st, restarted at 2 1/2 months and HE LIKES IT!! I also got the miracle blanket which is like arm cuffs with a swaddling for dummies blanket. I recommend this blanket or my system of 2 blankets for kids that can get out of a normal swaddle. Before I got my miracle blanket I stole their idea and put a tri-folded receiving blanket on top of a swaddling blanket ready to go (look at my photos of My Super-Duper Swaddle). You lay baby on top of both blankets and tuck the trifloded blanket edges over the arms and under the back. Then swaddle as normal. Since my ds is bigger the main swaddle blanket needs to be at least 40 in by 40 in. I went to the fabric store and got fabric that was 1.25 yards long and am making swaddling blankets out of that.
Side - haven't done much with the side except when he needs to be walked we use the colic hold. With him lying tummy side down across our forearm and sometimes that will work right away.
Babywearing!!!! Go to mamatoto.org for lots of good info and how to get started. I use a moby wrap almost everyday.
Altough ds is breastfeed we are supplementing in demand and finaly found a bottle he will take, Adiri Nautral Nursing Bottle (before is I was using a supplemental nursing system). I don't know about gas and reducing air b/c those are not a problem for my son.
Other random things
-change diaper
-take off clothes
-check them for hot or cold
-go inside if you are outside and outside if you are inside
-gripe water (didn't do much for us but it's basicly tums for babys if you get the one with bicarb in it)
When he became more aware of his world at 2ish months he went from bad to worse, We have a doc appiontment in the moring to rule out medical causes of his unhappiness. My guess is he can't settle himself now and that in combo with the high needs pushed this into colic.
I don't know if there is a medical reason that he is high needs. He might have allergies b/c I see allergirc shiners just as my dd did and still does plus both me and dh have allergies (but not to food). Or some GI thing do to the fact that he started spitting up when he started being colicly. Considering geting the happy tummies now. I let you know what I think. Good luck everybody.
The boob! Its about the only thing, and wow has my milk been abundant!!!
I also wear her as much as possible its great, swaddling helps but the weather has been too hot for that lately.
My stress is that I am the ONLY one that can calm her- or hold her when she is calm. I know it makes my husband sad that she only wants me!

Good luck!!
So this is not actually something that I do but it still kinda fits in this post.
My husband holds my son close to him and hums. That's it! Unbelievable! I guess it's the vibration in his chest along with the soothing noise that helps. I can be trying for hours to soothe him and as soon as my husband holds him he starts settling down. Actually, there is another technique that I use. Hand him to someone else.
