THIS... The Football hold works for my son Aiden, he at least gets some sleep while in my arms like this, I on the other hand suffer from sore arms and sleep deprovation...LOL!!! I don't care how sore my arms get evenif it means touchering myself while he gets 30 minutes of sleep with me carrying him around like this, if it means I hear silence and he feels better for a bit, I'll keep on doing it. However, this Football hold is only when I'm desparate and try not to give him too much meds...I try not to DEPEND so much on my Gripe Water and Mylicon. Even though those two work as well. I just add the Gripe water into his formula and it seems to work as well. But THIS Football hold works well to.

I just viewed two great DVDs that I wanted to tell you all about. The firt one is The happiest baby on the block. Amazing! I have a new baby since watching it. I knew about all of these techniques but didn't know why they work or in what order to try them. You may have heard of the Five S's; Swaddle, Side, Swing, Shhh and Suck. That is what this DVD is all about. I couldn't be happier!
The second DVD is called Dunstan Baby Language and like the first video is targeted for 0-3 month old babies. This one helps you to learn the universal language of babies. This one takes more practice but has the potential to turn your lives around.
I highly recommend both of these DVDs to every new mommy. I hope they will work as well for you as they have for me.

Hey everybody! My daughter suffers from Acid Reflux and Colic, which her colic is nothing compared to some stories I have read. (granted it has been hard for us) So after calling the doctor everyday almost for 2 weeks straight and trying the gas drops, gripe water and just ordering the happiest baby cd with the sounds my doctor said try mylanta supreme. They said a GI doctor recommended it. it has worked for us. She is 6 weeks old and we give her 1 ml during an out burst. she can take it 6 times a day. We haven't had to use it but maybe 2 times a day. We have a happy baby now. She coo's and smiles.
I just wanted to share this with you guys, maybe it will work for you also.
Thanks!!!
Thank you for that. I am gonna try it this weekend, my son is aready 12 weeks. no change, its killing us
Hi my first 2 boyst had terrible colic, the constant crying nearly drove me insane but everything i tried didnt ease the colic, I had another baby boy 6 months ago an a week after he was born he started the same constant crying wit his knees drawn up to his chest, My sister told me to change his feeding bottles to Dr BROWNS ANTI COLIC FEEDING BOTTLES and to change his baby milk to SMA LF (Lactose free milk based formula) What a blessing! His crying eased that very day an had stopped within 2 days.. He turned into a quite placid little baby an i was thrilled.. If your baby has colic i would definitely recomend you try these if you can obtain them in your area :)
Swaddling, "shhhh" loudly in his ear, while rocking vigorously in the rocking chair. I wish he'd take a pacifier to help as well. Usually above quiets him within a few minutes - even if it is only for a few minutes. A good book to get - The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp MD. Has a theory about ways to calm a baby. Not all work, but learned a few techniques that help and it gives me the hope that this will pass to happier times.

For my son and his colic (we would call his crying spells 'episodes') it was amazing how well the garbage disposal sound or the vacuum seemed to calm him down.
I also bought some ColicCalm Gripe Water. It seemed to help - I would only give it to him when nothing else would work. He seemed to tolerate it quite well.
It's a very stressful time when a baby has colic. Just remember Moms to keep your patience. Realize they can't help it. :) This too, shall pass.
My son Asden is 5 months old and he's run the gamut of colic techniques. It is hard with a breastfed baby who rejects the bottle. The Sleep Tight device, Alimentum formula ,swing, swaddling, gripe water, Ergo baby carrier and Happiest baby on the block DVD ,have helped greatly, but none is a consistent winner for Asden. What has helped is friends, family and time. 1-800- Grandma is a lifesaver. She's done the best for us, coming up, watching baby oat our place (letting us get much needed sleep) or watching him when we visit. For babykins a poopy diaper daily is good, mylicon & gripe water. His colic seemed to be gastrointestinal and is slowly going away. Just so you realize, colic doesn't always end around 3 months, it's different for all babies. Asden is still on the tail end at5 months and has bad days here and there.
My daughter in 10 weeks and has been colicky since week 1. We tried everything and this is what works for us. She also has acid reflux that the dr put her on prevacid. She is doing better with this as she was coughing and spitting up.
- Gripe Water - works for us to get gas out -- make own so you know what you are getting compared to buying. Take 2 cups water boil and seep 2 tablespoons of fennel seeds for 10 minutes. Get fennel seeds in supermarke. Take fennel seeds out and fennel tea in refrig for 24 hours. We give to baby before feed 2 tablespoons. Some people give up to 2 oz in an hour if needed. Make new after 24 hours. Europe has been doing it for years..for colic.
-SSHHHH - in ear
-Crib CD player with white noise to play at night -- helps. Get from Happiest Baby on the Block website. She loves the hairdryer. Better than actually using the hair dyer of vaccum.
-Swaddling
- Time - I think this has a lot to do with it as she is getting better with time -- they say it has to do with the digestive system maturing... ahahah wish there was some cure.
Let me know if this helps:)
