I'm looking for a jogging stroller for my 2 1/ 2 year old. I want one that will hold his weight for a long time. Is it better to have a fixed front wheel or swivel? I live in a semi citylike area, high traffic, heavy business (Studio City, CA),
and I want to use it around town too, not just for running. Any suggestions would be awesome! (Brands, Tips, Flaws in certain models) I don't want to spend more than $300 (Actually I don't want my partner to spend more than that, it's for Christmas...heheheehee) Thanks Mamas!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson

Hi there. If there's one thing I know, it's jogging strollers.  I started walking, then progressed to jogging, now to running in order to lose weight and get healthy.  I now have two joggers, as I have two kids-- a double and a single.  I take my kiddos out at least four times a week in my joggers.  SO here goes:
check out joggingstrollers.com.  Their prices aren't bad but their shipping is free so that's nice.  I have a single Kelty and a double InStep Safari TT.  My Kelty was over $300 (gift from my mom) and my double was just $150 (but that was two years ago, it's more like $200 now.)  All said, the Instep is better.  Here's what I've learned:
**front swivel wheel is a must, especially if you plan to start jogging as opposed to just walking. If you jog you'll want to use just one hand on the stroller so you can get some momentum by swinging the other hand (switching off) and the front swivel wheel makes the one-hand approach SOOO much easier.
**Bigger back wheels are better. Look for 14 inch or 16 inch, don't do a 12 inch back wheel base.  You can't get a good long stride.
**Shocks on the wheels are totally unnecessary. Assuming you'll be on mostly sidewalks-- I mean who takes their kids trail running, right?
**For an additional $25 you can buy a odometer-- like you put on a bike.  It shows your speed, has a stopwatch, shows mileage... it's the best little gadget ever.
**Also, you can buy holders for your kids sippy cups.  You put the cup in this harness thing, which then ties onto your stroller.  You wouldn't believe how a falling sippy cups breaks a good stride so it's totally worth it to get one.
**If you can find a stroller with a front "roll bar" it's great. My kids love it. They put their feet up on the bar, bounce their heads on the bar (cushioned) plus it makes it a little safer if there's an accident.  But I'm not sure if they have them on singles-- my double has one.
**All said, look into the Instep Safari --it's great.  I recommended it to a friend of mine and she loves it too.  It hold up to 50 pounds so that's like a 5-6 year old.  They used to sell them at Sportmart (I live in So Cal too, Orange County) so you could call there--maybe it's called Sports Authority now.  Anyway, good luck!  Hope all this helped.  --Kristen
