I have a few questions about SVU if anyone follows it. I used to watch it then I stopped for a while and now I am trying to figure out what happen in season 7 and eight between Elliot and Olivia...... Does anyone know why they stopped being partners..... and did they get back together?

At the end of one season, they were put in a pridicament where Elliot chose Olivia's life and safety over a child and the child died.....Olivia asked to be reassigned.....(desk job)while in real life she was pregnant.....Elliot's new partner for the entire next season never fit the mold.....and eventually they reunited.....however there are times still friction because the closeness of their relationship.....
