So off to the dr we went today. He took one look at guy & told him he was suffering from post concussion syndrome and there is neurological damage in his brain. The dr disabled him s of 1w/1q but that might be changed to an earlier date once the dr sees the old medical records & can compare the old stuff to the new tests.

I remember the story and am glad he has been diagnosed, maybe now your kids will have a bit more respect..Although I think you should have referred to your previous post since we've had some newcomers and some might not remember.

Did he say he will make a complete recovery?  I don't know what "The dr disabled him s of 1w/1q..."means.

The story began with "Overwhelming Guilt and Sadness" posted around Christmas-time.

My son understands what's going on and just accepts things for the way they are.

My daughter, however, shows no empathy or sympathy towards him, even now that the diagnosis is in.  Her statement is "I'm a pyschology major......". But I did speak to her best friend and explained  what has been going on and hopefully she will relay what I said to my daughter.  I did find out from her friend that my daughter worries a lot about me, what goes on between me & him, and how all of this effects my diabetes. since I now know what the cause is, i can respond in a much better way.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and support.  There aren't many people I can talk to about this, so once again, Thanks.

Post Concussion Syndrome never goes away permanently.  That's why you will see so many hockey players taking so much time off when they get hurt.

The way to treat PCS is with rest, not going out in bright light (if you have floaters) or driving at night, staying calm as much as possible, basically doing nothing.

There were a couple of hockey players who died over the last year or so from concussion related symptoms. Their brains were actually different than a person without PCS.  I can only pray that every day is better than the last and take each day one at a time.

Thanks everyone!
