Do you still smoke or were you able to quit?   Good advice on the condom, I can relate to learning to laugh at yourself.

What kind of cookies did you and grandma make?

Yes I started smoking at 8 and now 30 years later I still have the habit grrrrr.  We always made choc chip and they are still my favorites!

Quoting OhGloria:

True but I took my younger self to mean teen, I started smoking before I was in my teens (stupid)

I started smoking in elementary school so I can relate to this!

The eating for two was fun, but not, most of it was emotional eating. I was 8 months along when the father said "this isn't going to work for me, I'm too young, have my whole life ahead of me, here's $300 go get an abortion or give it up" WHAT rocked my world. I was about to turn 21 and a single mom before it began. Plus my mom is a typical southern mom, food fixes everything. I gained 65 lbs!! Took me 2 years to loose it. The rest of the weight gain was 2 still borns, 2 miscarriages, 2 more boys, a divorce, remarriage, military deployment, health issues, steriods, and so on.

Memories of my dad are bitter sweet. He was an abusive alcoholic but he is my daddy and I love him. I wanted to be with him even if it was abusive. My mom was an enabler and weak. When my dad was good he was very good and when he was bad he was the devil. No he no longer drinks and is very mellow, he is also disabled due to his abusive lifestyle.

Sounds like a lifetime movie huh?

Quoting Esmrlda:

Haha but the eating for two was fun while it lasted!  Getting calmer for sure, I love every one's early memories.  Yours sounds especially special, how fun to ride in a big rig with your daddy.

Quoting homeskoolmama:

My best advice to my younger self is........ don't get fat and lazy! Keep exercising and don't fall into the trap of "you're eating for two" cause it is hard to take off.

The best part of getting older is......getting wiser and calmer.

I'm most looking forward to.....seeing what path my kids life decisions take them, careers, marriage, babies.

My earliest happy memory is........riding in a big rig with my dad and eating a hershey's chocolate bar.

Who said I could afford it.  My income would drop by half if I retired now.  I will be 65 in a couple of months.  I will probably now have to wait until I am 70.

Quoting Esmrlda:

That sucks, so now you have to wait longer before the retirement benefits kick in? I always thought people just retire when they can afford to.

Quoting Why123:

I would like to be able to retire someday.  At the rate I am going it will probably be another 5 years down the line because they keep raising the retirement age.  I have a stockpile of craft projects that I would like to get done and lots and lots of books I want to read.

Quoting Why123:

My best advice to my younger self is; Don't sweat the small stuff.

The best part of getting older is; Grandkids

I'm most looking forward to; maybe retiring someday

My earliest happy memory is; sitting on the kitchen floor in a square of sunshine that came in through the back door.

Awww I love the sunshine square part.  Do you want to retire?  What would you do all day?
