He opted out for our State to get the extra Health Care Coverage for the people in the State of Florida who are in need. It would have cost our State about 500 million dollars to help cover those people in need.
The only reason I am not in that group of people is because I have a child who is not an adult yet. When she becomes of age I am out of the health care system until I am 55 unless there are changes made. I could never afford private health care. EVER. My type of job does not provide benefits and neither does my husbands. I could handle co pays and things like that.
I am very disappointed. I hope it changes soon or I may have to move to a State that will cover me. I have an illness and have to go to the doctor every month.
Are you in a State that opted out?

Do you also know the top 25% in the US pay 85% of federal income taxes. Guess they should pay 100%???
Quoting jonnlilithsmom:I've re-read a couple of times... you asked the original poster how much more in taxes she wants to pay, you didn't ask me... I'm the Canadian, remember? but I'll answer anyway... I'm willing to pay what I need to pay, why aren't you?
Quoting atlmom2:
We are in the hole, the money has to come from higher taxes for all. I did ask. Look at the post.
Quoting jonnlilithsmom:you didn't ask me that question, but I am well aware that it isn't free... and it is a damned sight better way to use tax money than war
Quoting atlmom2:
Obamacare already made it so everyone can get insurance even with pre existing conditions. You didn't answer how much you want your taxes raised. Its not free.
Quoting jonnlilithsmom:...but our poor don't die from treatable illness... our middle class doesn't have to go bankrupt to pay for a sudden illness or injury, and "pre-existing conditions" don't stop you from getting insurance...
we also don't spend nearly as much on war, so there's more here at home where it's needed
Quoting atlmom2:
You have way higher sales and income taxes also. Some.states in the US pay no sales taxes at all.
Quoting jonnlilithsmom:I'm Canadian, we've had free universal health care for as long as I can remember...
it hasn't wrecked our economy, or any of the other horror stories that the naysayers are always spouting
I hope your government realizes their error soon, for everyone's sake
Well maybe If the taspayers weren't having to foot the bill for Romeny's Hobby Horses and he quit buying up businesses and ourtsourcing the jobs until those businesses went under we could pay less taxes....
Here is a good one, Reagan said "America doesn't want socialized medicine" yet he was on it until the day he died...Nancy is still on it. That's right all her medical bills are paid for by those Americans who don't want socialized medicine.
Sarah Palin so dead seat against Socilazed medicine fought tooth and nail to get her grandson on WIC...HELLO that's socialized medicine...that taxpayer pays for it. Oh yeah they are fine getting it for themselves but for the rest of us...nooooooo. Why shouldn't they get their medical benefits for nothing, they're rich...leave it to the working class to pay for it all.
