What do you do in a typical day? You probably don't realize how important you are and how much you actually do.
Monday-Friday and every other Saturday:
4:30am Wake up...drag myself to the coffe pot
4:35-5am - watch the news and wish I didn't have to go to work
5-5:25- get dressed and pack my lunch
5:30 -leave for work
6am- arrive at work, look at the orders for the day, make maps, make phone calls
6:30- start shipping
6;31am-4:30 - scale in and out the barrage of trucks, answer phones, solve stupid problems.
4:30-5pm- do paperwork to close my day.
5-6p- drive with the traffic home
6:30pm-7 - make dinner
8p- take a shower, watch tv
Such an exciting life I live
I basically get to work at 9 am and am there until 5 pm. While there, I:
place orders for parts
check on parts received for the service dept and make sure the techs receive them
deal with insurance companies regarding wreck estimates and their status
file extended warranties for payment
make sure parts get ordered for my wreck jobs, warranty jobs, and regular repair jobs
file supplements for wreck jobs and ensure payment
consolidate repair orders
when there is only one person in parts, I open for them and cover their lunches.
answer more phone calls and get yelled at by a**hole customers that would never speak to a man the way they speak to me
keep shop supplies stocked
There is much more that I do, however, my mind is mush right now. Then I go home, sometimes clean the kitchen and cook something, clean some more and go to bed. Other times I just go straight to bed. I work part-time at Albertson's so, this week on Friday, I will leave my full-time job at 5pm and go home, change clothes and work at the store from 6-10. On Saturday and Sunday they have me scheduled from 11am-8pm. I don't mean to turn this into a vent post, but it truly ticks me off that they have scheduled me so many hours! I have virtually NO down time!! No time to just relax, ya know? Grrr....oh! and who knew that shopping makes people so angry! Last weekend the customers were just priceless- all moody and icky. Thank God for my regulars who are wonderful! Otherwise I would probably go apeshit all over some of the rude ones. Sorry for going crazy. Thanks for letting me vent. That is my life in a nutshell. Work work and more work. But I still have time for Cafemom!!! LOL
My days aren't as full as they once were now that my inlaws & parents & my only sibling are gone & my son has his own family & they live 5 states away. I am up around 6:30 -7AM every day. I work 4 days a week, Monday thru Thursday, from 10AM - 3PM. I am a consumer services representative for a very large company & I need to be on the phone for my whole shift except for a 20 minute break & trips to the ladies room. When I get up I have coffee & OJ & sometimes breakfast (I'm not hungry before 10AM). I tend to my 2 parakeets & my dog. I watch TV - usually the news, traffic, weather & I usually watch a prayer show. I'll do a few exercises & I check my email & Facebook for photos of my grandson :) I'll organize my day - pay bills, do a shopping list, etc. Sometimes, my son will call me on his way home from work if he was on the night shift - he's a police officer. Then I get ready for work, shower, dress, do my hair, makeup. I have to allow at least 45 minutes for the trip to work even though it's only 7-8 miles away. If there's heavy traffic going into NYC, it back up the roads to my job which is near the Geo. Washington Bridge. When I leave work, I often do shopping - groceries mostly. Unless my husband is working the night shift that week, then I go right home, fix dinner & pack his lunch. Then I'll do the dinner dishes (no dishwasher)feed the dog, do some laundry, & often cook dinner for the following few days. I go out 2 nights a week to sing - Sweet Adelines chorus rehearsals on Weds, church choir rehearsals on Thurs except during the summer. Once a month all year round are "cantors rehearsals" - the soloists get our schedules & rehearse the hymns we lead on Sat & Sun. I usually sing on Sunday mornings at church. On Fridays & Saturdays, unless I have a performance with my chorus, choir or quartet, I will run errands one day & clean house the other, as long as DH isn't working nights & sleeping during the day. Sundays after church, I'll spend time with DH if he's not working, or friends or my brother's widow. In the summer we'll barbecue. During the winter, I might spend a whole Sunday cooking - making stews, sauce, lasagna, soup, roasts, etc for the week. Because DH works 12 hr shifts, changing from day to night shifts & a lot of overtime, I pick up the slack here. I guess I do everything myself, except for the yard work. Although I do shovel the snow in winter if DH is on the night shift during a storm. I am usually in bed by 11:30 - midnight. After dinner, which is often not til 7:30 - 8 by the time DH comes home on his day shift, I'll practice my music then watch TV ( I enjoy old movies & vintage TV shows especially) or read til bedtime. And of course, go on Cafe Mom & Facebook.

Oh, sure, I used to pass by the Cloisters when going up the Henry Hudson Pkwy to visit my Mom who used to live in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, or my brother who lived in Westchester. Both deceased now. I live & work on the NJ side of the GWB. The traffic is terrible; you probably wouldn't recognize it :)
