I need a recipe idea- something savory

We participate in a local wine walk for merchants. I need a hors doeuvres idea, finger food. Something savory, not meatball or the little wieners, those are already being done.

Maybe something that could be spread or topped on a baguette but not cheese. Everyone does cheese and crackers and grapes. I want to do something with substance but has to go with wine of course.

How about a cheese BALL?  Not the norm, but still easy.

How about Bruschetta or a Caprisi Salad?

I know it is already Fall, but how about Spring Rolls? They are super easy to make and look AND taste so good. You can get the small Rice Paper wrappers from an Asian store and use whatever filling you want. You have to just soak the wrappers one at a time in warm water and they become soft like cloth. Then just wrap up the filling by putting a small amount near one end, fold like an envelope on 3 sides and then roll up the entire lenth of the last side. Ready to eat! if you put colorful veggies like carrots (matchsticks), green onions, they show through and look nice too.

I was thinking Bruschetta as well.     I would go on Pinterest and check out appetizers-   there are great ideas on there.    :-)     Have fun !    It sounds like a great time.

I got this from sheknows.com,   I've  had it as appetizers with those little toasted appetizer bread slices that come from the grocery store, it is very good.

Tomato Bruschetta

bruschetta-with-tomatoes.jpg

Ingredients

  • 12 slices of small Italian or French bread (baguette), toasted
  • 3 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

Combine tomatoes, oil, basil and salt in a covered bowl and let marinate at least 4 hours. (Do not refrigerate, as the tomatoes will lose their flavor.) Use a slotted spoon to layer on to bread. Serve immediately.
