Your Family at Thanksgiving

Posted by   + Show Post

We are avoiding the family drama this year. The only people coming to our house for dinner are our children, their SO's, and our youngest daughters boyfriends parents and sisters.

It "should" be a great time. Its still sad that our families have these issues but we aren't going to let that stop us from having a loving time with our kids.

So who is going to be at your Thanksgiving table this year?

We have 2 Thanksgiving dinners! On Thanksgiving day, we go to my MIL's house. Sadly, this will be the LAST Thanksgiving and Christmas that DH's younger brother will  NOT be able to attend. He was sent to prison for 7 months for downloading VERY SEXUALLY explicit child porn on the internet! His probation ends this coming June!! After his probation ends, he can go into his mom's house again! UGH!! He can go pretty much anywhere he wants! It makes my skin crawl to think of him looking at my kids! I'm always wondering if he is picturing them naked in his sick head!!

Our 2nd Thanksgiving dinner is going to be at my Aunt and Uncle's house this year. We do Thanksgiving with them on Friday. Unfortunately, my cousin and his wife will be there. They usually can't make it cuz my cousin usually has to work. My cousin and his wife "THINK" they are "BETTER" than everyone else!! They are VERY SNOBBY and EXTREMELY PHONEY!!! I just try to stay AWAY from BOTH of them and visit with my other cousins and my Aunt and Uncle. Thankfully, my phoney cousin and his wife are only able to come for visits once a year!! If they came out more often, I would stay HOME!! That is how BAD they are!!!

This was changed from last Friday already due to a bad infection that he had.  Dd21 is coming over and Im going to make her some green chile enchiladas and have some quality time with her.

Quoting Shellness:

My partial should be in any day now and I keep saying, "I hope they don't call me in to get it before Thanksgiving" because they have to pull 2 teeth on me too! LOL, he should have made them change the appt.!

Quoting Esmrlda:

No one, dh is getting two teeth pulled on Wednesday so we got out of having dinner with the in laws. He seems happier about it than I am.   We will make a dinner on Saturday if he is feeling up to it and have a few friends over.

My DD27, granddaughter, DD24, her boyfriend, boyfrinds parents, my fabulous sister, my niece29, my ex-husband and myself..  My ex-husband and I host.  Yes - my ex and I are family - we vacation together, hang out together sometimes, have family get-togethers a few times a month - it works for us!

Like you, we are boycotting the family drama.  I would love to sit down with my MIL and FIL, or even my own parents.  But, alas, money is not there to travel out of state to see mine, and the in-laws have been bullied into being the "host house" once again by their kids.  I cannot (and will no longer) deal with my husband's brothers and sister.  Even some of his neices are on the list.....They are SO freaking negative....

Anyway, it will be DH and I, my oldest daughter, her roommate and my youngest daughter.
