Speaking of portable heaters (space heaters)

I bought a small portable heater to use as a back up, but something I wonder about is will it damage the flooring that it sits on? Do you know if they should be placed on something to keep this from happening? Or are they made to be set on the floor so won't harm it?

I haven't figured it out yet.  I hurt my back so don't want to lift the heater out of the closet where I set it. I need to do this, though, and not wait until we need it. Thank you for the nudge.

I keep our little heater up off the carpet as it is deep pile carpeting. I've been doing it this way for a few years and don't have a problem. And believe it when I say I am Fire Marshall Jules about everything! The heater isn't warm on the outside and the book it sits on isn't warm anywhere either. I watch that thing like it's a time bomb! lol
