Would you want your kids to be forced to visit you?

There is a stir article about a law in China that requires adult children to visit their elderly parents or face ramifications.

While I can understand the thought process behind the law, would you really want your kids FORCED to come visit you or would you prefer they come of their own free will because they WANT too?

What about for the people whose children and them do not get along. I imagine that would be very uncomfortable and counterproductive.

I would prefer they come when they want to so it can be a pleasant visit.

I couldnt imagine that my dd would never not want to come visit me.  That would be so sad.

I only want people around me who want to be. It's always so obvious.

I wouldn't want to be forced and I sure wouldn't want the kids to be forced.  That's not how you make relationships in my opinion

1 mom liked this

I saw that on the news and it surprised me.  I thought their culture took very good care of their elderly.  Didn't think the government had to tell them to visit their parents.

I wouldn't want him forced! I would hope he would want to visit me either coming here or me there, but never forced.

I know situations like my mother in law & there is just no way my husband should have to see her.

I only want them to come because they want to not having been forced.
