...travel a lot for work: How do you cope with his long absences? Are you ever resentful that you have to parent and keep house alone? How about loneliness?

About 19 years ago, Ray was in the Navy. He was on a ship and went to sea, ALOT. The only thing that kept me going was my boys. They were baby-2. Back then, I had NO computer. It was terribly lonely. But, we lived in the city, so not too bad. But, my heart goes out to all the wives who have to deal with this. We're done with it, but it was tough times. Luv, Maria

When My DH was Military and even when he worked for the company that he did he was gone often. No it didnt bother me because it was his job and I knew it when we got the job. I was a single mom before we married so I was use to being a lone.

When my kids were younger, he didnt travel, but he always worked nights (still does) and I felt like a single parent. Esp. because if she kids were home, he was at work. If he was home sleeping, they were at school. I dealt with it fine and didnt resent it..afterall, he was putting a roof over our heads.

Now they are grown, he still works nights and occasionally travels for work...usually gone 3-4 days at a time. Im still fine with it. Guess since he's always worked nights and worked alot, Im used to him not being here.
