 Good morning!!

Welcome to week 4, how you all doing?

Being that it is Winter and most are getting snow and others nice warm weather the ones who are getting the snowy weather might get a condition called SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), this is when a person had the winter blues due to lack of sunlight. If you suffer from this disorder but you still want to exercise just turn on a bright light and dance, or exercise away. This helps with the moods.

Last week in the forum BJ posted about celery and its many great uses. I for one knew about the benefits but simply forgotten about how great that little green stalk can be. It can lower your blood pressure and aside in weight loss. I challenge you all this week to eat celery or even juice it and lets see how we feel next week.

One thing Raymond will talk about today is how Germans eat their meals. I want to say living in Germany I really liked how they did it, a nice warm breakfast, a big harty lunch and for dinner they had a very light meal. I have found for years if I eat a light meal for dinner and then a snack that I see a difference.

Motivation: If you happen to slip on your diet don't be hard on yourself. Simply look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you did great but tomorrow you will do better. You are your best cheerleader and by giving yourself pep talks each day or note of encouragement always help keep you motivated.

You can achieve it if you want it!! :)

Have a great week !! DRINK THAT WATER!! You need at least 64oz a day!!

Here is our weekly message from Raymond.. Ladies .. On a personal note could you all please thank Raymond for putting together these messages to us each week. He is a great guy and would love to know his message is appreciated. Thanks!!

Good morning ladies! I hope everyone is taking the time to exercise and you are reaching your fitness goals.

Great book to read The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy

Many of Life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. - Thomas Edison

Yesterday, I went to Barnes and Nobles to look for a book and I happened to walk by the health section and you would not believe how many diet and weight loss books are on the market today. I am sure that most of the information contain in these books is confusing and does not have any scientific research or proof of the results.

The reason most people fail on diets is because they try to eat like a bodybuilder on the first day and eliminate everything from their diet, which is not only hard but impossible. Ladies, please remember the lady on the front cover of that fitness magazine does not look like that year around because it is hard on your body!!
Here are some simple things, you can do to lose weight without cutting everything out of your diet!
1. Eat until you are satisfied and not full! When you go a restaurant they give you enough food to eat just to satisfy you. (Not make you FULL)
2. Stay away from buffets because you are going to eat until you get full!
3. Don’t eat anything heavy after 6:00 PM. My mother is German and I can remember eating most of our bigger meals for lunch and eating light at night. Try it
4. If you are on a strict diet for 7 days reward yourself, with a junk meal once or twice a week. For me every Saturday is PIZZA it’s a reward for me and I love it. Ladies if you do not reward yourself, you will go NUTS, take the time to enjoy your favorite junk meal. Notice, I said meal and not buffet.
Just like diet books there are so many health supplements out there, you do not know which ones are safe or ones to take. As a competitive lifter and national champion for over 12 years there is not a supplement on the market that I have not tried. I have been a fan of Wal mart, Sam’s, Whole Foods, GNC etc…. and other vitamins. But, I took some time to research Nutrilite Health and Sports Products and I have been more than happy with the product. Nutrilite was the first company to produce the first multi vitamin over 75 years ago and they are still here today. Nutrilite is the only company that is FDA approved, every batch is tested and retested for potency. If it says 500 of Vitamin A that is what you get! They also offer a 180 money back guarantee on all health supplements.

So far so good here, SAD is not happening here, the weather has been absolutly beautiful, I am still working out at least 30 minutes a day, drinking water has been amazing to me, I feel better, my skin looks so good and the pufffiness I had under my eyes is gone, I do still allow myself one small cup of soda a day, it is my treat. I dont eat a lot of celery but when I make soup which at least once every 2 weeks I do add celery, I like it so I guess I should eat it more often

I drink my water and have been eating my celery as a snack each day. I am noticing that my skin is dried but will keep lotion on it and given myself a pedicure once a week makes me feel great!
I am going to make me several dozen muffins with flax seed and freeze them and warm one a day to have as morning snack.

Hello ladies.  Wow, we're into week four already.  I'm still trying to drink more water and vary what I do to work out.  I get bored doing the same thing then tend to not want to exercise.  Having different DVDs and using what Netflix has helps me with that.  How is everyone else doing?

And thanks Raymond for providing us with some great info. : )

I like the junk food treat part! LOL I've been doing really well. I slip a few days when I wasn't feeling well. I resorted back to some comfort foods that may not be really good for me. I also didn't exercise because I had some pain in my chest from a rib that moved out of place. Now that this has all been resolved...I'm back on track!

I read line #4 above and thought that it said, "if you are on a PIZZA diet for 7 days, reward yourself with a junk meal..." I definitely had to re-read that line. I must be starving and not thinking right. LOL My dyslexia is in full force.

Anyway, I made it to the gym three days last week and my goal is to get there four days this week. I'm averaging 425 calories and 4.5 miles on the treadmill for an hour and then doing some weights. I've cut out a lot of calories from liquids and drinking mostly water. I'm still drinking coffee with creamer. If I could cut that, I'd lose way, way faster. I'm hypoglycemic, so I'm eating breakfast to avoid the afternoon crash and much like the German way of eating, I'm eating heavier foods early in the day. I made dh and ds a steak the other night and they were surprised to hear I ate mine about 2pm. We'll see if this strategy works.
