Would you let your 16 yr old be driven to the show with another teen driving?
if its against the law then she shouldnt go....google some pics of teen accidents...a good way to for her to show independence is for her not to act immature over your answers/rules
Maine has a law that requires a 3-step graduated drivers licensing system for new drivers who are under 18 years of age. The law includes restrictions for drivers under 21 years of age. The law is intended to allow Maine's young people to gain valuable driving experience under lower risk conditions.
What are the restrictions?
Learner's Permit - Under 21 years old:
If a permit is issued to a person under 21 years of age that person must hold the permit for 6 months before applying for a road test and are prohibited from using a cellular phone while operating with a permit.
If a permit is issued to a person under 21 years of age, they must log 35 hours of driving and 5 of the hours must be done after dark.
If a permit expires, the person must take an exam for a new permit but will not be required to wait before applying for a road test. The restriction from using a cellular phone still applies.
Learner's Permit - Age 21 and Over:
If a permit is issued to a person 21 years of age and over, that person does not have to wait 6 months before applying for a road test, however, they are prohibited from using a cellular phone while operating with a permit.
License - Under 18 years of age:
If a license is issued to a person under the age of 18, that person will receive an "Intermediate License" which prohibits the licensee from the following:
Carrying passengers, except immediate family (grandparent; step grandparent; parent; stepparent; spouse; child; stepchildren; brother; sister; stepbrother; stepsister; a foreign exchange student that is living with the immediate family) unless accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 20 years of age and has held a valid license for the past 2 years and is occupying the seat beside the driver for six months after licensure.
Operating a motor vehicle from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Operating a motor vehicle while using a cellular phone.
A person must hold an intermediate license for 180 days from the date the license was originally issued before they can receive an unrestricted license. If someone is convicted of violating one of the three restrictions listed above, the license restrictions will be extended for an additional period of 180 days from the date of the violation.
Use of any handheld electronic device, including cellular phones, is prohibited for anyone under 18 years of age.
I stand with you on this momma. No
If it is illegal then I would have to say no. Other than that I wouldnt have any problem with it.
I would say, rules is rules-they have to learn to obey laws, all of them when driving.I dont think you are being wrong for this one.DH needs to make her stay with the rules. It teaches more responsibility when they follow then early and hopefully remember rules when they are older.I did not let my DD ride with my niece driving until she was 18 and had her liscense for over 2 years. They went to one of the midnight release parties at walmart for the twlight series.I worried about them but let her go because it was near our house.I think I texted my daughter every 30 minutes until my niece brought her home.It was the only time I let her go.They had one other passenger, cousin and he was over 21 so I felt it was alright.
