Question for the wise ladies out there....when it comes to serving our country, I have a friend whom served when she was 17 years old in the national guard. She was to go and do split training between her junior and senior year. During one of her weekend drills, she was raped by a co-unit member. Since she did not have a drivers license, and being a minor, the crime was reported and she never returned to the military. She did get an honorable discharge. Do you consider her a veteran even though she did not have any "active duty" time besides her weekend drills? Just curious....doing a paper for school and it really would be beneficial to my thesis.....thanks you all and god bless!
Yes, she is considered a veteran. She was given an honorable discharge. The wording says it all.
yes she is a veteran.
I did a work program in Germany and we had to be sworn in just like the military.
I'm a former USN wife. What is classified is ship's movement, details of a mission of any kind, etc.
Thank you all for the input....I am sure she will find it very helpful...she was in the national guard..which meant no ship...lol...but thanks.....love and peace to all
Quoting MissTLC:
I would definately consider her a veteran from the moment she took her oath. If r looking for more info go to www.va.gov
I have been there to the VA with her. They will treat her under an "Emergency Humanitarian Basis" only for her PTSD/MST/Migraines....she is running into issues with the VA and the Department of Veterans affairs not working on the same page....one classifies you as unemployable...and the DOD says ahhhh...naaahhhh....she isnt a veteran...under our guidelines....lol....just one of those things that make you go HMMMMMM. Thank you
