I just joined this group, hoping to find other women in my situaion. I live with a man, who has two kids, but I don't have any biological children of my own, and we're not married. I realize that most women were Girlfriend Mom's before they became Stepmom's, so I'd love to speak to those women as well. Thank you all and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, I was a girlfriend-mom at one point I guess, he had one kid but I also had 2 of my own. We then married & had a son together as well but have since divorced. I would prefer the next person I date to not have kids unless they're grown or mostly grown. It was a heartache for me dealing with his ex regarding their child. And now that my kids are mostly grown I feel like I'm done with the whole baby/toddler/small child stages. I wish u all the best, I know it can be tricky sometimes.

 I'm a lot of things depending on the situation and yours is kind of dangling out there....You are the girlfriend with baggage and there is no book written to say what you are called in this situation...

If the children reside with you then they should call you by your first name....no rushing on the MOM thing.....they might fly off to mom's and everything you've done can be gone in a flash...So keep yourself in check and it will be easier as you move along in your relationship.....Tell  your SO what you feel about things and maybe you can come up with a nickname....You want the kid to call you mom -no steps needed- I'm not a 'step' kinda person.
