I heard this story and it not only broke my heart but made me wonder if the 12 year old had a history of violence and if so why was the child left with this boy and then read that a 15 year old was in the home while this child was being beaten. My question is why didn't the 15 year old step in and help this poor little girl??

BTW the boy will be charged as an adult..

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested and charged as a juvenile with second-degree murder in the beating death of a 2-year-old in Prince George's County.

Sources told News4 that the 2-year-old was a foster child staying at the home where the alleged incident happened Tuesday in the 1800 block of Taylor Avenue in Fort Washington, Md. She had been placed in foster care by the courts in order to keep her safe, News4's Derrick Ward reported.

Police said the father of the boy called 911 at about 5 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive 2-year-old girl in the home. The father performed CPR on the child, who was eventually transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy on the girl showed that she died of blunt force trauma.

Police said they conducted interviews at the home and found that the 12-year-old allegedly beat the toddler repeatedly until she was unconscious. Two other children -- ages 15 and 4 -- were home at the time of the alleged incident. They have not been charged with any crimes.

The 12-year-old boy is being held at Boys Village. He has not been charged as an adult, but prosecutors are looking at the case to determine if that will change.

"The department is working very closely with law enforcement and will be closely reviewing our case records to ensure that all policies and procedures were followed," Department of Human Resources Secretary Ted Dallas said in a statement.

This is the second time a preteen has been charged with murder in Prince George's County. The first time occurred in 2006.

I heard this story and it broke my heart for this little girl.. First of all she was placed in this home (foster care) for what ever reason and this boy beats her to death.. What was this boy thinking and why didnt the 15 year old step in? I look at Sophia and Mikayla who is 2 and can't picture anyone beating them to death..

Makes you wonder what went through this 12 year olds mind as he was doing this terrible act..  But he is being charged as an adult..

I want to know how a 12 or even 15 year old could be responsible for this "foster child." There are usually guidelines to follow with foster care and having a minor care for a foster child is not usually allowed. My question would be WHERE were the foster parents during all of this...and would they be held accountable for leaving this child who was placed in THEIR care? Also...were these boys once in foster care too? Were they adoptive children...biological children? So many questions.

May God hold this little one close to him now. Rest peacefully child...I'm so sorry for all your pain and never given the chance to be happy. SO SAD.

My (at the time) 17 year old son, had to go through everything WE had to go through, so he could be "alone" with my nephew. Like we could leave them in the house together. This included drug testing.
I am pretty sure we would have been in big trouble if something happened and he had not gone through it with us.
